PRZJordan’s Prospect Tour Preview: Top Matchups RB/LB
As wind down the days until we’re at the PRZ Prospect Tour on May 7th, we’re taking a look at some of the Top Matchups between the RB/LB coming to the showcase. We’re stacked with talent in both sessions of the showcase, keeping things focused on Session One let’s dive into the RB/LB coming to put on a show.
Tyler Doddzz Tyler Doddzz 5'10" | 180 lbs | DB Naperville Central | 2023 IL 2023 5’10″ Naperville Central Twitter
Mr. Dodd is a young man that I had the pleasure of scouting in person during the playoffs last fall season and one that has potential in both the ground game as well as in the air attack. I’m interested to see how his route tree has evolved during this off season so far and how he breaks at the top of his routes. This young man does have solid hands to him from what I saw during his playoff game being able to secure those underneath routes. What I’m curious about is seeing how well he can create separation consistently as we head into the showcase. Also has potential as a defensive back.
Royce Harper(christion) Royce Harper(christion) 6'2" | 200 lbs | RB St Teresa | 2023 State IL 2023 6’1″ St. Teresa Twitter
Mr. Harper is a young man that’s one of my favorite young players in the lower levels of IHSA Football. He’s a workhorse that can bulldoze through weak grab tackles and fight for extra yards as a downhill runner. This young man is poised for a breakout senior season with the talented St. Teresa football team who’s looking to make a deep playoff run. What I’m most interested in seeing out of this young man at the showcase is his hands and ability to catch out of the backfield. Put on the film and you’ll see that he can be a dominant power back at the next level, his impact in the air attack is still a question mark. Look for this to be sorted out at the showcase and I’m interested to see how he performs.
Josh Lambert Josh Lambert 6'3" | 200 lbs | LB Downers Grove North | 2023 State IL 2023 6’3″ Downers Grove North Twitter
Mr. Lambert is a young man that can wreak havoc in run support and when he’s dropped back in zone coverage. His ability to close on the underneath routes and ability to flip his hips to stay with the defender are going to fair him well during 1 on 1s. I’m interested to see what his 40 time is as he seems to fly on film at times and get an insight into his man coverage skillset as well. This young man is poised for a breakout Senior Season Campaign, getting an early look into how he’s developed so far will give a better estimate of just how high he can rise.
Noah Battle Noah Battle 5'11" | 180 lbs | RB Downers Grove North | 2024 IL 2024 5’11″ Downers Grove North Twitter
Mr. Battle is a young man that I’ve started to become a big fan of. His ability to take a screen pass the distance where he not only uses his foot quicks but also use his elusiveness making defenders miss in open space are impressive to say the least. He can be utilized as a halfback as well as a receiver – both of which his shiftiness comes to light and can be a threat to break long runs. What I’m interested to see out of this young man’s performance at the showcase is not only how quickly he can close space between the defender but also how well he can get in/out of the breaks.
Nick Day Nick Day 5'9" | 205 lbs | RB Antioch | 2024 IL 2024 5’8″ Antioch Community Twitter
Mr. Day is a young man that I’ve heard nothing but great things about through the grapevine and when I scouted him I can concur he’s going to be a deadly offensive threat over the course of his high school career. This young man has a nice mix between being aggressive lowering his shoulder to run through weak grab tackles and being more of an elusive type of runner. It’s this mix of style that I’m very interested to see how he fairs during 1 on 1s and I’m interested to see what his route tree looks like as well. I wouldn’t be surprised if this young man surprises a few people.
Jackson McCarey Jackson McCarey 6'0" | 185 lbs | ATH New Trier | 2024 IL 2024 5’11″ New Trier Twitter
Mr. McCarey is a young man that I’m excited to finally get a chance to scout in person. I heard nothing but good things about this young man’s performance during our Stock Up Showcase earlier this year. This young man is shifty and elusive with the ball in his hands which he can use to make the first defender miss. What I’m excited about seeing out of this young man is his route tree as I’ve stated before when I scouted him that I believe he can be utilized more in the air attack running a multitude of routes. Mr. McCarey is one that could potentially end up being a 2x Top Performer at our showcases this year.
