Let’s wrap up the offseason coverage of the weight room and the gains that athletes across WI have been making with Part II of our top May Weight Room Standouts. This is a strong group! Big numbers. PRs. Multiple different lifts. Let’s do this!
[player_tooltip player_id="104424" first="JJ" last="Joiner"], ’23 LB- West De Pere
Lift: 315 lbs X 1 Power Clean, 425 lbs X 1 Squat
West De Pere is going to be a team to reckon with. One reason hwy is the big, strong LB [player_tooltip player_id="104424" first="JJ" last="Joiner"]. He makes this month’s article with a couple of PRs. One that shows off the explosiveness in a 315 lbs power clean, and one that shows off the lower body strength with a 425 lbs squat. Joiner is due for a big year that grabs him a lot of deserved attention from the next level.

Joseph Gibbons, ’25 OL/DL- West De Pere
Lift: 315 lbs X 1 Bench Press
We stay in West De Pere HS for a school record by Joseph Gibbons. The freshman made 315 lbs look easy on the bench. The future looks bright for the young man. He has me excited for his sophomore season, and to go check out his freshman film. Impressive lift.

[player_tooltip player_id="315921" first="Jacob" last="Hanson"], ’25 LB- Green Bay Southwest
Lift: 305 lbs X 1 Hang Clean
Jacob had himself a great month! He added 45 lbs to his hang clean in two months. That has me excited for the future of the freshman RB/LB. He also stood out at the Prospect Tour in Franklin, WI on the 14th. The freshman is a name to know, and watch, as he continues to get stronger and stronger over the coming years.

Javion Kunz, ’23 DL- DeForest
Lift: 625 lbs X 1 Trap Bar Deadlift
Javion is a soon to be senior that is deserving of some attention. Especially if he is putting up lifts like the one below. Huge numbers with strong form is something to get hyped about, and Javion does in the video below. Looking forward to seeing his impact this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id="300102" first="Cole" last="Stevens"], ’23 OL- D.C. Everest
Lift: 275 lbs X 3 Power Clean
Cole has risen to one of the best OL in northern WI, and with explosive lifts like this it is easy to see why. The big man springs out of his stance in the run game, walls off DL, and closes quickly on LBs. That is only possible if you are putting up numbers like Cole has this offseason. His power cleans are some of the best I have seen this offseason month to month.

Brandon Watrous, ’24 OL/DL- Badger
Lift: 385 lbs X 2 Deadlift, 235 lbs X 2 Bench Press
The soon to be junior just came onto my radar with these lifts, and it has me ready to dive in further on the Badger prospect. Badger has put out some impressive athletes, so seeing these lifts are no surprise. Can’t wait to see the tape, an dhow he does this fall.

Gage Monpas, ’23 ATH- Wausau West
Lift: 245 lbs X 1 Hang Clean, 235 lbs X 1 Bench Press
Gage makes the article again with a couple more PRs. The Wausau West product is another member of a talented team up in Wausau, WI. He has been putting in the work, and it should pay off nicely for the CB/WR. Especially on the defensive side of the ball. I’m hoping to get to a game this fall, and Monpas only further drives that desire.

[player_tooltip player_id="300313" first="Jack" last="Wilde"], ’23 OL- Greendale
Lift: 395 lbs X 5 Deadlift
If I take a week off the gym I feel like I have to restart. Jack takes a week off and then rips off 5 reps of 385 lbs. Wilde has been a consistent member of these articles. He has been grinding all offseason, and I hope it leads him to earning more looks from the next level.

[player_tooltip player_id="304435" first="Blaike" last="Loker"], ’23 OL- Kimberly
Lift: 545 lbs X 1 Squat
Blaike is going to be a riser this fall, or teams can get on him now. The big man is a key piece to the Kimberly OL, and he is going to help create big pushes in the run game, and stuff a lot of bull rushers with this strength. A 545 lbs squat is an elite weight for this age, but that is what they do up at Kimberly. It is looking like a special group of athletes coming together.

[player_tooltip player_id="104563" first="Ethan" last="Doucette"], ’23 LB- Kimberly
Lift: 560 lbs X 1 Squat
Ethan has had a great week as he earned a D1 offer from St. Thomas. He also has had a great month in the gym where he hit a new PR of 560 lbs on squat. Check off the strength box for the very talented LB prospect. His stock is going to continue to rise as we get into camp season where he can show off his three down versatility.

[player_tooltip player_id="250561" first="Brent" last="Hoppe"], ’23 DL- Turner
Lift: 255 lbs X 1 Bench Press
Brent had been sick earlier this spring/winter, but he has built himself back up to 233 lbs. He has also been building himself up in the weight room. His 255 lbs bench is a solid place to be, and it gives him a lot of room to continue to build up. As those numbers grow he is only going to become a better and better defensive talent.

[player_tooltip player_id="352455" first="Oscar" last="Blohm"], ’24 DL- Wisconsin Lutheran
Lift: 260 lbs X 1 Bench Press
Oscar is a new athlete for me, and I will definitely be diving into his film very soon. He first grabbed my attention with his record setting bench press for his class and position. I hope to see him continue to set these marks as he goes through his career. The young fella is just getting started.

[player_tooltip player_id="339036" first="Mason" last="Prozanski"], ’24 QB- Kenosha Tremper
Lift: 425 lbs X 2 Squat
Mason stood out at the Prospect Tour with his impressive athleticism. Easy to see where it came from now with his ability to rep 425 lbs on squat. Tremper is going to have a talented leader at the helm this fall. The soon to be junior is going to be one to keep an eye on.

[player_tooltip player_id="262061" first="Carson" last="Fletcher"], ’25 ATH- Racine Horlick
Lift: 225 lbs X 13 Bench Press
I love seeing kids rep out 225 lbs. It makes me think of the NFL Scouting Combine, and when it comes to Carson he actually puts up numbers tha trival some perfomres at the combine. The freshman has been building himself up so that he has an even bigger impact this fall. I’m hyped for his future. Sky is the limit if he keeps working like this.

Kieran Patrick, ’23 LB- Oshkosh West
Lift: 255 lbs X 1 Power Clean, 385 lbs X 1 Squat, 265 lbs X 1 Bench Press
Oshkosh West has multiple athletes that have gotten my attention this offseason. The newest is the LB Kieran Patrick. He posted his most recent numbers, and went over 900 lbs total. He enters summer with a very well balanced display of strength. I’m going to be diving into his tape to find out more about his game because his lifts have my attention.

[player_tooltip player_id="225872" first="Jackson" last="Braden"], ’24 DL- Badger
Lift: 455 lbs X 2 Deadlift
Jackson is another Prospect Tour standout who has also been killing it in the gym. It is easy to see why he stood out at the Showcase. These deadlifts have made his lower body so explosive and it gave linemen fits at the camp in Franklin. He was able to get out of his stance quicker and flash heavy hands that got him in position, created separation, and disengaged quickly. Braden is going to be a force for Badger this fall and a popular name this time next year for recruiting. Name to know!

[player_tooltip player_id="304405" first="Jonah" last="Larson"], ’23 OL- Bangor
Lift: 545 lbs X 1 Squat
One of the more under the radar prospects is junior [player_tooltip player_id="304405" first="Jonah" last="Larson"]. The Bangor lineman has size, athleticism, and clearly the strength needed to play at a high level of college football. I only gain confidence in his abilities after watching him move college level weight in this 545 lbs squat. Get a potential steal here!

[player_tooltip player_id="226935" first="Liam" last="Droessler"], ’23 OL- Milton
Lift: 315 lbs X 1 Bench Press
This has me hyped! I have been following Liam’s lifts since January. To see him break into the 3 plate club on bench 5 months later is absolutely awesome to witness. The Milton OL is going to be a riser this summer and fall. The kid puts in the work. Don’t miss out on him.
