Los Alamitos is expected to be one of the top three public school programs in Southern California this season.
The Griffins released their 2022 schedule which includes a Florida trip, a top team in Arizona, two Trinity League teams and a tough Sunset League slate.
Los Alamitos is full of elite prospects. USC commits [player_tooltip player_id="25419" first="Malachi" last="Nelson"] and [player_tooltip player_id="25398" first="Makai" last="Lemon"] are the headline grabbers and [player_tooltip player_id="190270" first="DeAndre" last="Moore"] is one of the best uncommitted players in the state.
[player_tooltip player_id="145170" first="Ethan" last="O'Connor"] is a talented two-way player picking up some steam and [player_tooltip player_id="25362" first="Sinn" last="Brennan"] is an intriguing pass rusher. [player_tooltip player_id="145202" first="Nehemiah" last="Sagiao"] is a good linebacker who transferred from St. John Bosco and they also added Servite transfers [player_tooltip player_id="145257" first="Vaka" last="Hansen"] and his brother [player_tooltip player_id="147754" first="Daniel" last="Hansen"].

Let's take a look at Los Alamitos' schedule and break down key matchups:
August 19, at Garces Memorial
Garces Memorial had a nice season in 2021 but graduated some top talent. [player_tooltip player_id="261755" first="Julian" last="Smith"] is an intriguing defensive back prospect from Garces Memorial. He is a lengthy safety with offers from San Jose State and Wisconsin. Running back [player_tooltip player_id="145269" first="Zamir" last="Hall"] got some playing time in a crowded backfield full of seniors last season but is the only retuning back with experience. This should be a nice easy win for the Griffins.
August 27, at American Heritage, Florida
American Heritage is loaded with elite college prospects. [player_tooltip player_id="127990" first="Brandon" last="Inniss"] is one of the best players in the nation with offers from Alabama, Ohio State and USC among others. [player_tooltip player_id="127994" first="Mark" last="Fletcher"] is a running back committed to Ohio State. [player_tooltip player_id="128008" first="Santana" last="Fleming"] is another elite receiver for American Heritage who is likely going to Florida State and [player_tooltip player_id="128014" first="Daemon" last="Fagan"] is a defensive back headed to Ohio State. American Heritage is one of the few teams that can hang with Los Alamitos at the skill positions and hang with them up front. This will be a very tough challenge for Los Alamitos.
September 3, Basha, Arizona
Basha is one of the top teams in Arizona and will be the first home game for Los Alamitos this season. [player_tooltip player_id="42934" first="Cole" last="Martin"] is arguably the top prospect in the state and is headed to Oregon. [player_tooltip player_id="214071" first="Jeremiah" last="Vessel"] is a safety with over 20 offers. [player_tooltip player_id="42908" first="James" last="Durand"] is an offensive lineman headed to Wisconsin and [player_tooltip player_id="42938" first="Wyatt" last="Milkovic"] is a linebacker going to Boise State. Basha has 9 players ranked in Arizona's Prep Redzone rankings. Basha has the talent to beat Los Alamitos and the Griffins are starting the season with some tough competition.
September 9, Servite
Servite is a big question mark after graduating its best class in recent school history. The Friars have to replace departed Power 5 talents like [player_tooltip player_id="25227" first="Tetairoa" last="McMillan"], [player_tooltip player_id="25286" first="Noah" last="Fifita"] and [player_tooltip player_id="141891" first="Mason" last="Graham"]. The Friars added [player_tooltip player_id="261778" first="Connor" last="Panapa"], a talented defensive lineman from Culver City. [player_tooltip player_id="25449" first="Kitione" last="Talavou"] is one of the best edge rushers in the Trinity League and has offers from Colorado State, Nevada and San Jose State. Servite is very well coached but I don't know if they have the talent to beat Los Alamitos this season.

September 16, Santa Margarita
Santa Margarita will be the third place team from the Trinity League this season. [player_tooltip player_id="25428" first="Jaxon" last="Potter"] is the quarterback for the Eagles who is 6-foot-5 and the ball jumps out of his hands. [player_tooltip player_id="190355" first="Niko" last="Lopez"] and [player_tooltip player_id="195538" first="Bain" last="Eiseman"] lead the Eagles receiving corps and [player_tooltip player_id="262084" first="Jake" last="Foye"] is a solid running back. The strength of the Eagles is its defensive front featuring [player_tooltip player_id="147756" first="Levar" last="Talley"], [player_tooltip player_id="282745" first="Tyler" last="Parker"], [player_tooltip player_id="253294" first="Jaden" last="Williams"], [player_tooltip player_id="270929" first="Nicholas" last="Johnson"] and Servite transfer [player_tooltip player_id="115437" first="Gage" last="Burnett"]. The Eagles beat Los Alamitos last season and will be a difficult way to end the nonleague season for the Griffins.
September 30, at Newport Harbor
Newport Harbor won a CIF championship at a lower level last season and is returning some top players. [player_tooltip player_id="145263" first="Kashton" last="Henjum"] and [player_tooltip player_id="147761" first="Josiah" last="Lamarque"] are high-level receivers and the Sailors added Colton Joseph at quarterback from San Juan Hills. [player_tooltip player_id="145232" first="Elijah" last="Cooks"] is a big lineman for the Sailors and [player_tooltip player_id="148989" first="Carson" last="De Avila"] is one of the best defensive players in the league.
October 7, at Corona del Mar
Corona del Mar is arguably the second best team in the Sunset League behind Los Alamitos. Quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="145236" first="David" last="Rasor"] is the best quarterback in the league other than Nelson. Evan Sanders is a good running back who is also a threat in the passing game. Cooper Hoch and Zach Giuliano lead the receiving corps and Giuliano just got an offer from UNLV. Corona del Mar is always good up front too and this will be a tough game for Los Alamitos.

October 14, at Edison
Edison is always very good but lost a ton of talent from last season. Parker Awad returns at quarterback and Carter Hogue will be the running back. Tucker Tripp is a good returning receiver and Mason York and [player_tooltip player_id="183440" first="Jackson" last="Irwin"] are intriguing receiver prospects. Nathan Gates leads a good offensive line for the Chargers who will be in a rebuilding year.
October 21, Huntington Beach
Huntington Beach is a good returning receiver in AJ Vandermade and has one of the better lineman in the league in [player_tooltip player_id="273679" first="Justin" last="Tauanuu"] who is 6-foot-6 and around 270 pounds and has offers from San Diego State, Fresno State and UNLV.
October 28, Fountain Valley
Fountain Valley is a struggling program right now but they have one of the top lineman in the league in [player_tooltip player_id="270362" first="Matthew" last="Mena"] who has been getting some recruiting attention lately.
