Brett Allen – RB – Edwardsburg
Edwardsburg was a win away from the State Championship, and Brett Allen was huge for them down the stretch. He’ll be the #1 option for the Eddies as they also have an elite offensive line at the D4 level. In terms of Allen’s game, he’s a powerful running back with good top speed, and he can stop on a dime and make people miss. As long as he continues to run hard and make a few guys miss, he’ll likely be the best Running Back in the Wolverine B.
Andrew Chambers – OLB/FB – Otsego
A sturdy player at 6’0 200lbs, Andrew Chambers, is a game-changer at OLB and FB. Offensively, he’s a powerful back perfect for their T-Wing offense. Defensively, he shines with many tackles for loss and a few sacks from the OLB/EDGE position. If Chambers can hone in on block shedding and pursuit, he’ll be a headache for opposing Offensive coordinators.
Darrin Strey – T/DE – Paw Paw
I’m very impressed by Strey’s film. He’s a run-blocking demon who is surprisingly agile at 6’5″, 250lbs. His power is just unfair against the team’s Paw Paw faces, and Strey easily pancakes opposing defenders. With the size and the power, he has true D1 potential. Though to be looked at by colleges, he needs to clean up many run-blocking fundamentals and prove himself with pass sets. With his zone/power blocks, he can get a bit high and, at times, undisciplined with his footwork. There’s minimal film with pass sets, which is expected for Paw Paw’s offense. To become elite with pass blocking, he needs to work after-hours and even travel a bit during the offseason to get his name out there.
Jacari Thomas – T – Plainwell
Thomas sports similar power to Strey and is almost as dominant. At 6’4″ 320lbs, Thomas has the size to play college ball, but like Strey, there is a lot to work on over the next few seasons. Where Thomas stands out is size and power, but he can improve on footwork, hand placement, and pad level when run blocking. I’m interested to see where Thomas goes future.
Jacob Thompson – ATH – Sturgis
Jacob Thompson is a versatile athlete for Sturgis, playing all over the field. Offensively he’s a twitchy RB/WR who can make guys miss with his speed and subtle fakes. At receiver, Thompson has excellent hands and concentration, able to catch inaccurate balls with ease. Defensively, Thompson is a brick wall as he hits extremely hard. I would like to see Thompson continue hitting hard but focus on sound tackling first and foremost.
Caleb Quake – QB – Three Rivers
A QB that very few know of, Caleb Quake is looking like the best QB in the Wolverine B. In a league built off the run game, he racked up 1355 yards and 14 touchdowns last season. He throws accurately with good footwork and overall fundamentals, and he’s able to extend the play and improvise quite well. It seems like he’s been working his tail off this offseason, and I can see him being a solid D3 recruit in the future.
