Spring Ball is always a great opportunity for teams to gel, new team leaders to emerge, and another opportunity for players to garner the attention of college coaches. Here are the top returning passing leaders in the state of Florida. [player_tooltip player_id="128308" first="Taron" last="Dickens"] | 6’ 175 lbs | Northwestern High School | Class of 2023 Dickens was the 6A Florida Player of the Year and Miami- Dade County Player of the Year last season. He led the entire state in passing yards with 3,743, completed 230 of 327 attempts, connected on 70% of his passes, threw for 42 touchdowns, had only 8 interceptions, and finished with a passer rating of 137.8. Dickens has thrown for a total of 7,040 yards in his career and only needs approximately 2,800 more yards to be the all time leading passer in Miami- Dade history. He currently has an offer from Akron, and I expect his recruitment to continue to grow over the next few months. Ennio Yapoor | 6’1’’ 210 lbs | Champagnat Catholic High School | Class of 2025 Yapoor is one of the top freshmen in the state of Florida. He was named Freshmen All American , Florida 2A Player of the Year, and 1st Team All Dade County. He led Champagnat to a 9-3 record and the 2nd round of the playoffs. The freshmen gunslinger threw for 3,300 yards, was 230 for 335 completing 69%, threw for 26 touchdowns, has only 4 interceptions, and a passer rating of 121.2. He already has offers from Ole Miss, Akron, Houston, and Florida Atlantic. [player_tooltip player_id="128318" first="Collin" last="Hurst"] | 5’ 10’’ 160 lbs | Western High School | Class of 2023 Hurst earned 8A Florida Offensive Player of the Year and Broward 8A- 6A Offensive Player of the Year honors this past season. An all around athlete who can hurt defenses with his arm or legs, he Led Florida 8A in passing with 3,267 yards. The Western QB completed 223 of his throws on 317 attempts (70%) passed for 35 touchdowns, had 2 interceptions, and returns with the top QB passing rating of 137.8. Hurst has been offered from Presbyterian College. Anthony Colandrea | 6’1 180 lbs | Lakewood High School | Class of 2023 Colandrea threw for 3,252 passing yards, completed 216 on 325 attempts for 62 percent, scored 27 touchdowns, had 10 interceptions, and finished with a 107.5 passer rating. The junior Quarterback led Lakewood to a 10-3 season before losing in the 3rd round of the state playoffs. Colandrea has several Division 1 offers from Kentucky, Arkansas St, Richmond, Georgia St, Middle Tennessee St, Western Carolina, Furman, Hawaii, and Utah St. JP Pickles | 5’11 165 lbs | North Florida Christian | Class of 2024 Pickles, who also plays Linebacker, played a key role in North Florida Christian’s success on both sides of the ball. He helped the team to a 6-4 regular season record and a 1st round state playoffs appearance before being eliminated by St. John Paul II. Pickles was responsible for 3,211 passing yards, completed 59 percent of his passes going 223 for 381, threw for 31 passing touchdowns, had 14 interceptions, and accumulated a QB rating of 97.8. [player_tooltip player_id="128315" first="Ahmad" last="Haston"] | 6’2" 190 lbs | Palm Beach Central | Class of 2023 Haston was the 8A Offensive Player of the Year and named 8A First Team All State as an athlete this past football season. His 3,018 passing yards was among the top in the state, and he was also equally as lethal when running the ball. He completed 160 passes out of 261 throws for 61 percent, scored 30 touchdowns, had only 2 interceptions, and had a passing rating of 136.5. He has offers from UMass, Charlotte, Marshall, Virginia, and Jackson St.
