Specifically, the state of North Carolina has plenty of underrated talent, and below, we have listed some of our favorite, more underrated prospects at the QB who have not yet received the credit that they deserve.
Daylin Lee- Shelby
It should come as no surprise that Lee leads the entire state in passing. Not only does he hit receivers well in stride, but he does a good job of dropping back, and finding the open receiver, no matter how much the play breaks down. While he is a bit young, he still plays like he has more tenure on the field than he actually does. He has a quick release, and decent ball placement on intermediate routes. Lee also plays with good footwork, and throws the ball with good velocity, even when he is off balance. While we do feel he can work on his mechanics a bit, we also feel that he is a bit further ahead in this area compared to other players in the state. Look for him to develop next season and to also see offers along the way.
Connor Clark Connor Clark 6'5" | 225 lbs | QB Cardinal Gibbons | 2023 NC – Cardinal Gibbons
While Clark has plenty of development ahead of him, we also see a ton of talent in his current stage of play. Not only does he get the ball out of his hands quickly, but he does a good job of playing with an accurate, and quick release that often results in 6 points. In addition to this, he has decent footwork, but one of his major strengths is his ability to make completions out of the pocket. What’s also impressive about his playing style, is the way that he is able to make passes look effortless, even though he is a lefty. Look for him to continue to take steps forward next year, and to be a huge part of his team’s success.
Amari Odom Amari Odom 6'4" | 175 lbs | QB Panther Creek | 2023 NC – Panther Creek
Odom may not be the most accurate or polished player on this list, but he does a good job of playing with good arm strength and a feel for the field around him. He maneuvers the pocket well, but can be a bit antsy at times as well with his footwork. He also squares his shoulders decently well, and gets the ball out quickly to open receivers. Even with this though, we would like to see him read the field more efficiently in the future. In addition to this, Odom also has plenty of upside in the fact that he is a very mobile player that can make plays with his legs. This not only keeps a defense off-balance, but it offers opportunities for him to become a dynamic playmaker at all times.
Will Taylor Will Taylor 6'2" | 170 lbs | WR Cambridge | 2023 State GA – JH Rose
One of the first things that stands out about Taylor is his ability to put a good touch on the football. This can be seen in his deep passes, and the way he layers intermediate throws. Taylor also shows that he can read the defense, and throw the ball with good timing, anticipation, and accuracy. He is also very efficient with the way that he gets his ball out of his hands, but we would like to see him shorten his release. Taylor also plays at a good frame, and at a good pace when he has the ball in his hands. We truly believe that he may be one of the more underrated players in the state, but he has a long way to go in terms of development. For now, we still believe he deserves more credit than he is received
