Last week, we highlighted five players from around the state which included two versatile defensive backs and a young offensive lineman who can move out in space.
This week, we’re staying on a journey around the state looking at two defensive ends who can flat out get after the quarterback, an instinctive free safety and a dual-threat quarterback. Let’s jump in with four unranked players you should keep your eye on:
2023 DE TeNarrious Rhinehart (@tenarrious_r), South Pointe (@footballsphs)
Rhinehart excels at pursuing the quarterback off the edge. He comes at full speed and makes life difficult for the opposing quarterback. Even if he can’t get to the quarterback, his ability to make tackles in space is impressive as well. He has a motor that is running and doesn’t stop until the whistle blows.
2023 FS Amir Young (@_AmirYoung_), North Augusta
Young is an instinctive free safety who reacts quickly to when the ball is in the air and can come up in run support off the right hash. His ability to jump and make interceptions like a center fielder in baseball is something that stands out on his film. His final stat line was impressive as he finished with 60 tackles, 15 PBUs and 4 INTs in 2021.
2023 DE Jebari Gamble (@JebariG), Ridge View (@RidgeViewF_Ball)
Gamble is described as a defensive end who has a motor that’s running, which is clear from what we saw on his film. He can get instant penetration into the backfield and he knows how to defeat lineman with violent hand usage as he’s a nightmare to try and block.
2023 QB Dylon O’Neal Dylon O’Neal 5'11" | 185 lbs | QB Westwood | 2023 SC (@DylonOneal), Richland Northeast (@RNE_Football)
The athleticism of O’Neal is what stands out when you watch him on film. He has the ability to make plays with his feet and once he gets out into space, it could be a touchdown. From a passing standpoint, he executes the quick game well on hitches and bubble screens.
