The prospects featured in this piece made a big splash in 2021 and put together some impressive highlight tapes. They may not be big names on the recruiting trail right now, but I think their stock could rise quickly. Keep an eye on these guys as we enter spring recruiting.
ATH: Chaston Walker, 5’10”, 175, Roger Bacon
An electrifying prospect who can make something happen out of almost nothing. Walker has soft hands, good vertical leaping ability, and excellent top-end speed. He’s a natural tracker of the deep ball and can press on the perimeter & be left on an island when need be.
WR: Mo Armstrong, 5’8″, 160, Sandusky
A burner who will eat up any cushion, get a defender to open his hips before planting and crossing face. As a runner, he’s extremely slippery with the ball and has filthy balance to ensure yards after contact. He’s rarely brought down by the first tackler and will immediately get his pads north & south following a reception. Despite his size, Mo plays fearless and will run over tacklers that get in his way when the time calls for it.
DB: Trey Liebhardt, 6′, 170, Chardon
A ballhawk that can excel in both man and zone coverage schemes. Trey has a nose for the football and consistently finds ways to make an impact in the turnover department. He’ll shoot his hand to create pbu’s in traffic and is a more than willing tackler in run support. He has plenty of recovery speed to catch up with receivers downfield and won’t look back unless he’s in phase.
ATH: Landen Wilson, 5’10”, 170, Ironton
On tape, this youngster showed blazing acceleration once he touched the ball along with phenomenal change of direction. Wilson has great patience through the hole and the ability to make tacklers miss on the second & third level. As a defensive back, he’s calm working out of a shuffle, will read receiver’s routes like a book, and breakthrough his man to make a play on the ball.
DB: Jeriah Moore, 6’1″, 170, Dublin Scioto
A good-sized safety with smooth hips & sticky hands. Moore easily reads the quarterback’s intentions, will undercut routes & take it the other way. He’s a physical tackler in run support who will come up & lay the boom. He utilizes the gator roll tackle when out leveraged and will get into a short stride to help make plays in space.
