Nearly 200 players from California, Arizona and Nevada gathered at Mission Viejo High School Sunday for the Under Armour Next All-America Camp.
Some of the best players in the area were at the event and it was difficult to get a good look at every player. Here are the wide receivers and tight ends who stood out to me.
[player_tooltip player_id="261865" first="Jamari" last="Johnson"], Inglewood - Johnson was drawing oohs and ahhs from the scouts on hand because of his size. When you see him among even the top prospects, he looks like a man playing with boys. He is 6-foot-5, 250 pounds and can move. He has solid hands and knows how to use his size to shield defenders. He used to be a quarterback but looked great running routes and in the gauntlet drills. He visited Louisville recently.

[player_tooltip player_id="145245" first="Grant" last="Gray"], Norco - Gray has long arms and has a big catch radius. He is such a smooth route runner and can get open using more than just his speed. He times his jumps perfectly and has so much confidence after getting hyped up from the Rivals camp and getting attention from scouts. Gray is up to double digit offers now.

[player_tooltip player_id="25434" first="Malachi" last="Riley"], Centennial - Riley looks very fast in the individual drills and the gauntlet drill. He is every bit of 6-foot-2 and pushing 180 pounds. He changes direction very quickly and is sure-handed. He works better on deep routes and can create separation with his speed and little stutter steps. Riley is up to 15 offers now.

[player_tooltip player_id="25408" first="Mikey" last="Matthews"], Mission Viejo - Matthews was one of a handful of players playing at his home school on Sunday and was the best of the bunch. When I watched him the past two years I thought his strength was catching the ball on underneath routes and making plays after the catch. But he showed Sunday he can get open easily on deep balls and has improved his top end speed. He is extremely competitive and caught every ball that was reasonable.

[player_tooltip player_id="25398" first="Makai" last="Lemon"], Los Alamitos - Lemon is so fast and complete as a receiver and one of the most competitive guys on the field. He was battling some soreness or nagging injuries and one of Los Alamitos’ coaches was on hand and didn’t want Lemon to take too many reps. Lemon was so competitive that he snuck onto the field to run routes in the one-on-one competition and I like that he wants to compete. He has a great connection with his quarterback and the USC scouts were enjoying the show Lemon was putting on.

[player_tooltip player_id="145208" first="Delano" last="Franklin"], Bishop Amat - "The Slot Machine" was getting open with ease on deep balls in the one-on-one period. He is one of the most explosive guys I saw at the camp and adjusts so well to the ball. He was able to beat taller defensive backs with ease and you can tell the quarterbacks enjoyed throwing to him.

[player_tooltip player_id="282767" first="Lamason" last="Waller"], Sultana - Waller was one of the top two class of 2025 receivers I saw and it was a loaded camp. He is very long already and has all the instincts of a top receiver. He is a little raw but is developing quickly and has the tools to be one of the best receivers in the nation in a year or two. Waller is already a national recruit and it was a real treat to see him matchup with top 2025 corner [player_tooltip player_id="149316" first="Jett" last="White"] on Sunday.
[player_tooltip player_id="282711" first="Marcus" last="Harris"], Mater Dei - Harris is already developing into quite an athlete at 6-foot-1 and 175 pounds. He looked really fast in the individual and gauntlet drills and did a nice job in the one-on-one portion of the day. Mater Dei graduated a few top receivers and I expect Harris to slide in nicely and contribute right away.
Ayden Gutierrez, Damien - I hadn’t really seen much of Gutierrez before and was pleasantly surprised by his footwork at the top of his routes. He is not a speed demon but can get open with his fast feet and agility. He adjusts to the ball and has very good hands. Gutierrez has offers from UNLV, Nevada and Morgan State. He visited UNLV over the weekend.
