With the 2022 signing class at most levels fully wrapped up, there are still plenty of ball carriers still available that had terrific high school careers. Part I of this series can be found Here!
Danny Olivera, Firebaugh HS
Olivera was one of the top rushers across the entire state and was a do it all player for Firebaugh. Having a very nice first level burst, he is a balanced runner that shows good contact balance and always falls forward in tight windows while being a true workhorse in the backfield. Displaying above average short area quickness and start stop abilities, he knows when to bounce it outside and forces defenders to over-pursue before cutting back against the grain. Olivera has soft hands and can also catch the ball out of the backfield from various angles while effective in the screen game.
Ivan Robledo, Saint Helena HS
Robledo has been one of the most impressive backs across Northern California over the past four seasons for the small school power and has gone over the century mark multiple years in a row. Although coming up short against St. Vincent de Paul in the NCS championship game last season, he was as important to the Saints offense as any player in the entire state. A powerful downhill runner, he runs with violence and terrific leg drive through first and second level tacklers and is a true fullback in the option system. Once running, he is extremely hard to bring down and takes multiple tacklers for a ride on tape. In the right system, he can really excel at the next level and he is also a standout instinctual linebacker.
Jack Susank, Mission Prep HS
Susank can play on either side of the ball in college depending on the level and is one of the best two-way players available in the region. He is a big and bruising ball carrier that runs with some violence and can gain tough yards in-between the tackles and also bounce it outside and gain the third level when needed. Running patiently, he waits for his blocks to develop and does not go down on first contact. Excelling in the power run game, he could also fit nicely as an outside linebacker at the next level due to his length, athleticism, and physicality.
Johntae Maggard, East Union HS
Maggard is a tough and physical runner that has natural forward lean and good leg drive through contact while very tough to bring down in the open field and has deceptive acceleration through the hole. Having a very strong build, he runs behind his pads and sticks his toe in the ground early and cuts it upfield forcing linebackers to take bad angles. A throwback player, he could even play on the other side of the ball at the next level and can no doubt make an impact on a college team.
