Alekai Afoa, California HS
Afoa can play on either side of the ball at the next level and is one of the best two-way players the Bay Area had during the 2021 season. Very athletic and moving well for his size, he is light on his feet and explosive out of his stance with a strong punch while able to finish blocks downfield and win with hands, feet and finish. On tape, he shows he is able to block in space and scrape to the second level while taking good angles to defenders and can comfortably pull when needed without taking false steps and exploding through contact. His mix of athleticism, size, feet and violence at the position make him a very intriguing prospect in college and he could find his home on either side of the ball.
Sky Barone, Eureka HS
Barone is a very technically sound player that excels in the run game and when vertically blocking downhill. On tape, he shows good bend for his size and can get out of stance quickly while establishing hand placement and a low pad level especially when drive blocking. Also able to play defensive end, he could kick inside at defensive tackle in college as he shows some good twitch and lateral movement abilities, which is rare for someone his size.
Christian Newberry-Jones, Folsom HS
Newberry-Jones is a big framed kid that has excelled at the tackle position for one of the top teams in the state and can no doubt make an impact at the college level. In pass protection, he is a patient player with active feet and well timed punches while playing with inside hands and tight elbows through out his progression against power moves. Athletic enough to pull and combo to the second level and block linebackers, he drives people off the ball quickly and will learn to finish blocks and drop his pad level as he progresses through college.
Anthony Ortale, Acalanes HS
Ortale is a true mauler in the trenches and has a quick first step, solid base and non-stop leg drive through contact while sustaining blocks downfield and finishing with aggression and good toughness. Very strong at the POA, he is a natural bender in his stance and creates immediate knock-back even against bigger interior players. In pass protection, he is strong enough to anchor against bull rushers and can reset his hands and displays light and active feet against speed rushers and does a good job not oversetting and knowing when to post against counters.
