Signing day is long passed, and we now have solidified recruiting classes for each college program in the state. Today, we're going to take a look at one of the most storied D2 programs in the country, and that's Grand Valley State. Here are the Michigan Class of 2022 signees to the Lakers!
<strong><span style="font-size: 12pt;">WR [player_tooltip player_id="30148" first="Lynn" last="Wyche-El"] - Detroit MLK</span></strong>
Renowned as one of the best Grand Valley recruits of all time, [player_tooltip player_id= "30148" first= "Lynn" last= "Wyche-El"] is a high-upside receiver with significant talent. If he sines with his brightest potential, he'll be incredible at the DII level.
<strong><span style="font-size: 12pt;">WR Kellen Reed - Holt</span></strong>
Reed was incredibly productive at Holt with 1,223 all-purpose yards, 36 catches, and 14 touchdowns. He was a versatile weapon on offense and a difference-maker on special teams. I'm excited to see what he's able to do at GV.
<strong><span style="font-size: 12pt;">TE [player_tooltip player_id="30267" first="Brett" last="Peterson"] - Kingsley</span></strong>
Peterson had some mind-blowing stats out of Kingsley, having started on offense and defense. He was a workhorse in high school with excellent grades, and he's an exciting prospect that I'll be watching at GV.
<strong><span style="font-size: 12pt;">OL/TE [player_tooltip player_id="243276" first="Brett" last="Weaver"] - Traverse City Central </span></strong>
Weaver is a 6'6" monster who played great for a state finalist. I'm always impressed with the development of talent at Traverse City Central, as the 2021-2022 Trojans were stacked. I'm interested to see how Weaver develops, especially athletically.
<strong><span style="font-size: 12pt;">OL [player_tooltip player_id="80495" first="Breon" last="Key"] - Harper Woods</span></strong>
Key was a mauler at Harper Woods, weighing in at 6'4" 290lbs. A consistent force on offense and defense, Key has the opportunity to expand his game at GV. Excited to see his progression, especially athletically.
<strong><span style="font-size: 12pt;">OL [player_tooltip player_id="30179" first="Cooper" last="Phillips"] - Dakota</span></strong>
Phillips comes from a consistently great program, and he's able to play just about anywhere on the line. He's got insane strength headlined by a 305lb bench press, though I'm excited to see how he progresses with his technique at the college level.
<strong><span style="font-size: 12pt;">OL Jeffrey Burton - Fordson</span></strong>
Here's a big boy who knows how to get to work. Fordson has a fantastic football culture, and he's headed to a place with a winning tradition. Excited to see what he can do.
<strong><span style="font-size: 12pt;">OL Jakob Lentz - Monroe </span></strong>
6'7" 285lbs with a 315lb bench press, 405lb squat, and 500lb deadlift. Need I say more? The dude is a mauler, and his tape is extremely fun to watch. He's got a significant upside.
<strong><span style="font-size: 12pt;">LB [player_tooltip player_id="30305" first="Cross" last="Dobbs"] - Grand Blanc</span></strong>
I am more knowledgeable about [player_tooltip player_id="30305" first="Cross" last="Dobbs"] more than anyone on this list. I watched him play quite a bit this past season, and he was phenomenal against all competition. A high motor and a relentless competitor, I expect Dobbs to transition well to the college level.
<strong><span style="font-size: 12pt;">DB [player_tooltip player_id="80491" first="Jason" last="Hardy"] - Loyola Detroit </span></strong>
A polished DB with some nice tape, [player_tooltip player_id="80491" first="Jason" last="Hardy"] is a big 6’2" corner with promise. I'm especially impressed by his tackling tape, something I have seldom seen on hudl.
<strong><span style="font-size: 12pt;">S [player_tooltip player_id="30177" first="Kyle" last="Johnson"] - West Bloomfield</span></strong>
We all know West Bloomfield is one of the premier programs in the state, and that's because of its depth. [player_tooltip player_id= "30177" first= "Kyle" last= "Johnson"] was overshadowed by power five recruits, but checking out his tape, he's a relentless athlete with a ton to offer at the safety position.
<strong><span style="font-size: 12pt;">S Charles Wilson - Belleville </span></strong>
An underrated star for Belleville, Charles Wilson heads to GV with a state championship ring that he played a significant role in earning for his team. I am overall highly excited for this DB class.
