Continue ReadingDetroit Catholic Central has been a top football program for many years. They are 17-4 the last two seasons and have qualified for the playoffs 6 out of the last 7 years. They play in one of the toughest conferences in the state of Michigan in The Catholic High School League. Last year the league featured the division 2 state champion in the Waren De La Salle Pilots who finished 13-0 on the year. Detroit Catholic Central came up just short to De La Salle last year by a score of 17-7 in favor of La Salle. This year Catholic Central will look to avenge the loss and not only challenge for the conference but try to compete for another state title.
#37 Brayden Courser Brayden Courser 6'1" | 215 lbs | LB Detroit Catholic Central | 2023 State MI | LB | 2023 | Hudl
Courser has great instincts and can fire through gaps and make tackles for loss. He shows the play speed to run sideline to sideline. This is huge for a team to have a linebacker that can do this. The ability prevents opponents from making big plays and all the yardage saved adds up throughout the course of the season. Brayden Courser Brayden Courser 6'1" | 215 lbs | LB Detroit Catholic Central | 2023 State MI has great ability to breakup passes with his hitting ability. Courser shows the versatility to line up in the middle and on the outside. He has the speed and strength to rush the quarterback as well. He makes tackles look effortless. A sign that you truly have a big-time player is when they make big plays look easy. Courser will be looking to dominate at the linebacker position once again in 2022.
#5 Jack Davis | DB | 2023 | Hudl
Davis does not hesitate to fly up and make tackles at the safety position. He takes great angles and is a great from tackler. Davis has good size at 6-1 190 lbs. He shows a good range in coverage. You can tell that the coaching staff trusts him in coverage sice they let him play the middle of the field by himself at times, I look forward to seeing Davis make more plays for the Catholic Central defense next seaoson.
#14 Spencer Lyons Spencer Lyons 6'2" | 215 lbs | ATH Catholic Central | 2023 MI | RB | 2023 | Hudl
I like how Lyons knows when to bounce the football to the outside. When he does get outside, most of the time it results in a long touchdown run. Lyons does a great job accelerating and getting up to top speed quickly after he gets the football in his hands. He shows the strength to get the extra yards for a touchdown on the goal line. Lyons has great size for a running back at 6-2 215 lbs. There are many plays in Lyon’s highlights where he just bounces off tacklers and then re-accelerates for extra yardage.
#26 Ryan Schrameck | LB | 2023 | Hudl
Schrameck is a beast on the kickoff. He is always flying down field to make tackles and prevent long returns. Schrameck is a great form tackler who goes low and gets his head across. At the linebacker position, his motor is always running. There are several plays where he chases down ball carriers from behind. He is quick to read where the run is going and then coming downhill at an angle to make a tackle.
