As we all patiently wait for Friday nights this Fall, I want to start this week by shining a spotlight on five uber-talented players that need to be on recruiting boards everywhere.
RB Landan “Coco” Brown – 5’11” 190 / Denton HS – @Coco_Brown34
Ran for a jaw-dropping 1,848 yards last season, and is easily the most under-rated RB in the state of Texas.
Brown is a guy that every college coach in America needs to know about. He sees the field exceptionally well, runs with above-average contact balance, has great speed, and churns out explosive play after explosive play. He is a ‘Can’t Miss’ talent who has zero offers right now. Denton High has struggled some in recent years, and if they’re going to make the playoffs for the first time since 2016, Coco will play a huge part.

CB Jaylen Webb – 6’2″ 170 / Kennedale HS – @JaylenWebb1
Jaylen plays for Baron Browning’s alma mater, and is certainly doing his best to make the Ohio State product proud. He had 6 PBUs, 4 INTs, and 2 sacks as a junior. He stays low in his backpedal and shows exceptional burst when getting downhill to make plays. Excellent size and speed for a CB – and college coaches should be keeping track of this youngster. He’s going to be a steal for someone.
S Kyler Smith – 6’3″ 215 / Mount Pleasant HS – @VibeWithK1
Kyler is a hard-hitter who’s sure to get some recruiting attention this season. He needs to get a bit quicker, but is sure to find a college home as an in-the box strong safety. He’s got excellent size for the position and flashes good ball skills when the throw comes his way. Keep an eye on him.

DE Ryne Berger – 6’4″ 230 / Klein Oak HS – @RyneBerg3r
Ryne can get after the quarterback with the best of them. He approached double-digit sacks as a junior, and his senior season could be even better. He is solid against the run, but does try to arm tackle a little too often. His coaches rave about his leadership, grit, and pass rush ability. He checks the boxes of what you’re looking for in a pass rusher. His motor never stops.

QB PJ Hatter – 6’2″ 195 / Klein Oak HS – @PrestonHatter2
The Elite 11 invitee threw for 18 TDs – and only 4 INTs – last season. What PJ does with his legs, however, is what makes him so exciting to watch. When things break down, he has an uncanny ability to make things happen. He ran for 1,231 yards and 23 TDs. He does not boast any offers currently, but expect that to change as the season unfolds. The Klein Oak product has a very nice arm, shows impressive poise while in the pocket, and is an elite athlete (runs a 4.4 in the 40-yard dash).
