Today I’ll be discussing three upperclassmen heading into a new season with more being asked of them. These players are all highly regarded, but the question is how well will they perform?
De La Salle WR Eric Christoff Eric Christoff 5'7" | 145 lbs | ATH Avondale | 2024 State MI
Having officially transferred from Avondale to De La Salle, Christoff is an intriguing prospect on a more proven program, though now alongside a crowded WR room.
Here’s a prospect that has always competed well during the offseason, but his on-field production hasn’t been elite, all while his best games have been against subpar competition. He’s proven enough for me to have ranked him relatively high in the 2024 rankings, but I could honestly see his ranking changing significantly, for better or worse, following his first season as a Pilot.
Rockford QB Mac VandenHout Mac VandenHout 5'11" | 190 lbs | QB Rockford | 2023 State MI
VandenHout has already solidified himself as a top-tier athlete in Michigan, though the switch from WR to QB is a big step. He’ll be tasked with leading one of the most successful programs in the state while filling the shoes of an all-state QB. In essence, this is quite literally a big “pivot.” I expect VandenHout may experience some early-season woes, but he’ll settle in quite well and be a dangerous postseason QB.
GR Catholic Central QB Connor Wolf Connor Wolf 6'3" | 180 lbs | QB Grand Rapids Catholic Central | 2024 State MI
Wolf heads into the 2022 season with what I believe to be the highest pressure of any first-year QB. The class of 2025 prospect is being given the keys to a team that’s won 3-straight state championships. Wolf has been highly touted by multiple outlets, and he’s performed well during this offseason. Despite the significant losses Catholic Central is set to experience, all eyes will be on Connor Wolf Connor Wolf 6'3" | 180 lbs | QB Grand Rapids Catholic Central | 2024 State MI to lead Catholic Central to the promised land.
