In this article:
A deeper dive into each RB & LB “Top Performer” from late January’s StockUp Showcase.
LB Top Performers
Razan Parker Razan Parker 5'11" | 210 lbs | ATH South Philadelphia | 2023 State PA | 5’10, 210 | South Philadelphia | 2023
Standout Trait at Camp: Covering Ground / Closing Gap in Pass Cov.
Standout Trait on Film: Position Versatility, Physicality
Standout Testing Number: 9’0 (BJ)
Enjoyed seeing this young man ball out in front of college coaches at the Showcase. Parker came in as a DB but mainly showed off his coverage skills against smaller, quicker backs from a linebacker spot. Said this before, just from a glance, you may think this kid doesn’t have the foot quickness or hips to keep up with some of the speed at the camp. His build is muscular and thick, so this is a natural thought any scout may have. He proved anyone thinking that wrong. This kid can cover GROUND. He isn’t a burner by any sense of the word but is so adept at utilizing leverage, physicality to match up with his opponent no matter the stature. Smart player who is going to be a pleasure to mold at the next level. Parker and I have spoken about where he might see the most success on the field. Tough question but a great problem to have at this point. I can see a future where Razan is a stout run-stopping Hybrid Safety at the next level. I can also see him manning the middle with his IQ and instincts. OLB could even be an option in some 3-4 defenses. Excited for his future.
Samuel Hobbs Samuel Hobbs 6'1" | 210 lbs | LB Neumann-Goretti | 2023 State PA | 6’1, 205 | Neumann-Goretti | 2023
Standout Trait at Camp: Overall Athleticism
Standout Trait on Film: Nose-for-the-Ball
Standout Testing Number: 9’11 (BJ)
One of the camp’s top-ranked prospects, it’s no wonder the star-LB/DB was named a “Top Performer”. His athleticism was on full display, showing off the range he has to cover ground with running backs and wideouts. Incredibly disciplined in route recognition when playing off. He came to the camp as a DB where I could 100% see him transitioning to fully at the next level. His film is violent and aggressive. One of the more fun tapes to plug in when studying the OLB position. Instinctual, square to the LOS when moving laterally. Seeks the ball-carrier out with ease. The top-10 Linebacking prospect also scored the best Broad Jump measure of any kid at the camp. Says something about the explosiveness in this young man’s lower body. Sky is the limit.
Cameron Kiersch Cameron Kiersch 6'1" | 220 lbs | LB Danville Area | 2025 State PA | 5’11, 185 | Danville | 2025
Standout Trait at Camp: Fluidity
Standout Trait on Film: Discipline for Age/Experience
Standout Testing Number: 4.57 (Pro-Shuttle)
Camp aside, I love this kid’s skillset as a freshman. Disciplined in gap-control, disciplined, hardly ever over-pursuing on tape. Some of the best production out of a freshman linebacker, 72 tackles on the year along with 4 interceptions. Those interceptions and ability to play the football leads to the question as to whether Kiersch could be a future Safety prospect if those at Danville see fit. He will be a problem either way. Elite field awareness as a freshman, I can only imagine where this trait will take him as he continues to gain a feel for his positions. There is a ton of room to grow under his pads, how his frame develops will play a huge part in projecting his future. Right now, we as scouts are enamored with his potential. The camp was a breeze for the freshman, who smoothly went through each drill and easily matched up with backs in open space.
RB Top Performers
Ethan Shine Ethan Shine 5'10" | 215 lbs | RB Central Bucks East | 2023 State PA | 5’10, 215 | Central Bucks East | 2023
Standout Trait at Camp: Balance w Frame
Standout Trait on Film: No-Nonsense Style, Discipline
Standout Testing Number: 4.72 (40 @ 210)
Easy to become an Ethan Shine Ethan Shine 5'10" | 215 lbs | RB Central Bucks East | 2023 State PA fan seeing him at camps and in shorts and a t-shirt. Even easier to become a fan when seeing what he’s capable of with pads on. The obvious stands out immediately, Shine’s got a muscular build that suits his playstyle well, also allowing him to contribute on defense for CB East. I got to see up close just how well he can move, accelerate and stay balanced with this frame. He did that and more. Named a camp “Top Performer”, Shine showed he can be light on his feet and change direction while out-weighing other backs by 50+ pounds. His tape reflects his no-nonsense style of running. He can win in so many ways, running through you, running past you, beating angles in the open field. He’s a pleasure to watch and highly productive. Posted a 4.72 40-time at 210 pounds.
Andre Reames | 5’7, 160 | Stroudsburg | 2023
Standout Trait at Camp: Lateral Agility
Standout Trait on Film: Home-Run Ability
Standout Testing Number: 4.66 (40) & 9’2 (BJ)
Jayden Johnson Jayden Johnson 5'6" | 160 lbs | RB Gettysburg | 2023 State PA | 5’6, 160 | Gettysburg | 2023
Standout Trait at Camp: Short-Area Burst
Standout Trait on Film: Space Play
Standout Testing Number: 8’9 (BJ)
Both Andre Reames and Jayden Johnson Jayden Johnson 5'6" | 160 lbs | RB Gettysburg | 2023 State PA provide similar games on the field as well as at the camp. Both builds are nearly identical. You can also say that both prospects provide their backfields with a good balance of burst, COD ability, and 3rd-Down ability. Andre Reames was the better tester and can break a game open with one single run. His tape shows off his long speed as well as his serious acceleration through the second level. A ton of what Reames does is through the trenches, which is impressive standing at 5’7 and 160 pounds. Reames solidified his overall camp performance with awesome testing numbers all the way around.
I like Jayden Johnson Jayden Johnson 5'6" | 160 lbs | RB Gettysburg | 2023 State PA ’s play in space. I trust the scat-back to make defenders miss in the open field. I think he could potentially develop even better hands in the future if he makes it a priority, which would only send his stock through the roof with potential collegiate suitors. Johnson possesses seasoned feet and balance, he showed it all night long. Jayden Johnson Jayden Johnson 5'6" | 160 lbs | RB Gettysburg | 2023 State PA has got some creativity to his running style, so much so that he tends to catch even athletic defenders off guard in the open field.
