The NextGen camp series continued its 2022 tour this past weekend in Los Angeles, California at Los Alamitos High School. NextGen Camps evaluate more than 5,000 athletes each year. In its seven-year history athletes have received nearly 8,000 Division 1 scholarship offers. NextGen All-America Showcase camps have quickly become one of the nation’s most respected Middle School and High School Underclassmen Showcase Camps. Here is a look at the skill position prospects in the class of 2026 and 2027 that stood out to us. [player_tooltip player_id="286968" first="Ethan" last="Vomacka"] | California | Running Back | 2026 Big, powerful back who moves very well for his size at 5-foot-11 and 170 pounds. Ran good routes and whipped his head around at the right time more times than not. Big fan of his build and muscle mass at this point. Long term I think he’ll end up starring on the defensive ball as a linebacker but either way, he can go, Justin Weatherall | Kansas | Running Back | 2026 Slippery running back who made the trip from Kansas for the event. Was a standout at North Derby Middle School. Looks like an ideal middle school running back at this point, with good build and acceleration. [player_tooltip player_id="283637" first="Kenneth" last="Moore III"] | California | Wide Receiver | 2026 Not the biggest kid in the world by any means, but Moore III is a dangerous weapon on the outside. One of the main go-to weapons for Quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="283609" first="Devin" last="Rasmussen"], who was also a standout at the camp. Moore is an ideal slot receiver who can make a lot of great grabs and create after the catch with this vision. [player_tooltip player_id="283598" first="Chase" last="Wesley"] | California | Wide Receiver | 2026 The younger brother of current San Diego State Aztec Wide Receiver Phillippe Wesley, Chase already had a home on the Prep RedZone Next Watch List prior to attending the camp. That said, all he did was confirm what we already knew--he could play. Torched Defensive Back’s all day long and earned an invitation to The Show. Landon McClendon Jr. | California | Wide Receiver | 2026 A new name that emerged at the camp was Landon McClendon Jr. A regular season teammate of the aforementioned [player_tooltip player_id="283637" first="Kenneth" last="Moore III"] and Quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="283609" first="Devin" last="Rasmussen"], McClendon Jr. certainly looked the part. Measured in at 5-foot-11 and 165 pounds. Built very solid. Needs to work on overall speed and explosion, but he’ll be one to know going forward. [player_tooltip player_id="283588" first="Beau" last="Smigiel"] | California | Wide Receiver | 2026 The twin brother of Quarterback standout Brady, Beau had an impressive afternoon as well. He’s a well-put together receiver who uses a nice combination of size and speed to create separation at the top of his routes. Billed at 6-foot and 160 pounds, he doesn’t have the height of his 6-foot-4 brother, but he’s every bit the talented football player. Potential is here. Jalen Remis | California | Wide Receiver | 2027 A really, really impressive looking seventh grade prospect. Remis is a high cut prospect that showed he can can high point the ball with the best in the country at this level. Shouldn’t be surprising given his prowess on the basketball court as well. It’s early, and he has a way to go in his athletic career, but he has the potential to be a very good one.
