We always strive to make these rankings as thorough and comprehensive as possible here at Prep Redzone and since our last rankings update, before the start of the 2021 high school season, featured several hundred prospects in the Missouri database.
Here is a look at some freshmen prospects who emerged this fall:
RB Dierre Hill Dierre Hill 5'11" | 180 lbs | RB Vashon | 2025 IL Vashon
Hill, an electric 5-foot-11, 180-pound running back and defensive back, was the talk of the St. Louis area throughout the fall with his fascinating debut season for the rebuilding Vashon Wolverines and checks in as the No. 1 running back prospect and No. 2 overall prospect in Missouri in the Class of 2025.
Hill rushed for 1,120 yards, averaging 11.8 yards per carry, and 14 touchdowns. He also caught 10 passes for 154 yards and three touchdowns. He scored seven total touchdowns on returns, giving him 24 scores for his freshman season. If that wasn’t enough, he also recorded 21 tackles and three interceptions while playing defensive back
Hill has speed, quickness and elusiveness and will be a problem for the rest of the Public High League for the next few years. He has already received early scholarship offers from Arkansas State, Arkansas, Nebraska and Illinois.
RB Jamarion Parker Jamarion Parker 6'1" | 185 lbs | RB Cardinal Ritter | 2025 State MO Cardinal Ritter
Parker, a 6-1, 185-pounder, has emerged as a popular prospect over the past few weeks and seems to add a scholarship offer or two every day. He received his first offer from Iowa State on January 20 and has since received offers from Miami-Ohio, Boston College, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Minnesota, West Virginia, Oregon State, Louisville, Memphis, Toledo and Texas A&M.
That’s a remarkable run of offers for Parker, the No. 2 running back and No. 3 overall prospect in Missouri in the Class of 2025. Parker was Cardinal Ritter’s second-leading rusher during his freshman campaign when he rushed for 243 yards and four touchdowns on 27 carries. He averaged nine yards per carry. He finished with five total TDs.
LB Jason King Jason King 6'2" | 210 lbs | LB De Smet | 2025 State MO De Smet
A 6-0, 190-pounder, King is the No. 1 linebacker prospect and No. 9 overall prospect in Missouri in the Class of 2025 following a freshman season in which he recorded 14 tackles while seeing time on the varsity level behind more experienced linebackers.
De Smet loses its top two linebackers to graduation, which should open up more playing time for King during his sophomore season. He looks like the kind of player who will end up being a three-year starter and big-time impact player before all is said and done.
DB Karvon Jefferson Karvon Jefferson 6'0" | 190 lbs | DB Lutheran North | 2025 State MO Lutheran North
The No. 1 defensive back and No. 10 overall prospect in Missouri in the Class of 2025, Jefferson is a 5-11, 155-pounder who looks like an impact player at safety or at linebacker as he continues to get bigger and stronger.
Jefferson was credited with 41 tackles, six tackles for loss and two sacks in seven games on the varsity level. A bulk of those stats came in one game, against Soldan, when he had 17 tackles, four tackles for loss and two sacks.
Jefferson, who lists himself as a running back, wide receiver and cornerback, on his HUDL profile, looks like an impact player on either side of the ball. It will be interesting to see how he develops and where what position he ultimately ends up in a few years.
TE Jackson Kohl Jackson Kohl 6'5" | 240 lbs | TE CBC | 2025 State MO CBC
Kohl, a 6-4, 220-pounder, is the No. 1 tight end prospect and No. 12 overall prospect in Missouri for the Class of 2025 after a freshman campaign that saw him earn some varsity snaps during CBC’s state championship run.
Kohl recorded just one catch for nine yards at the varsity level, but showed the potential to be a good blocker in the future with added strength. He’s got good size already with the potential to carry more good weight.
When CBC won the state title in 2018, it had two Division I tight ends in Niko Hea (Missouri) and Carson Buddemeyer (Missouri State). It’s very early, but it looks like Kohl could develop into a similar player in a few years.
