The class of 2024, in general, is stacked. For Union, this is a class that will help change the culture. Union currently has three standouts, all with college football potential. These three all play crucial roles for a rising program. Oh, and they all have great grades! Let’s check them out!
<strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">[player_tooltip player_id="253311" first="Robert" last="Dedrick"] - MLB - 5’10" 210 <a href="https://www.hudl.com/profile/14860562/Robert-Dedrick">HUDL</a></span></strong>
What a season it was for Dedrick, as he earned all-league honors while being named team captain. Notably, earning all-league honors in the OK-Green is a difficult feat, as this league is one of the toughest in the state. Dedrick’s success has carried over into the offseason as he’s been named a week-1 MVP for Legacy Black while showing up to the weight room, putting in work with a positive attitude. He’s started in every game since his freshman season, and he continues to grow as a player. More specifically, he shows great power with the ability to go sideline-to-sideline. With some touch-ups to his fundamentals, Dedrick can and likely will raise his stock.
<strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">[player_tooltip player_id="253313" first="Kaharri" last="Caldwell"] - OT - 6’4" 240 <a href="https://www.hudl.com/profile/15930373/Kaharri-Caldwell">HUDL</a></span></strong>
Man, oh man, the potential for [player_tooltip player_id="253313" first="Kaharri" last="Caldwell"] is massive. He’s a 6’4" 240lb tackle who shows lots of upside though he displays many areas where he can improve. His pass blocking looks good as he has a nice drop and engages well. In addition, many of his run blocks are powerful. Caldwell needs to get a bit stronger and more agile. If he has a great offseason, this will set him up for great performances against top competition, which in turn will make colleges come calling.
<strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">[player_tooltip player_id="290764" first="Alek" last="Martinez"] - OLB/TE - 6’0" 185 <a href="https://www.hudl.com/profile/14860563/Alek-Martinez">HUDL</a></span></strong>
Having started at TE and OLB this past season, [player_tooltip player_id="290764" first="Alek" last="Martinez"] played a vital role for Union. Martinez is known for having a great work ethic, as well as being more athletic than most. At Tight End, he posted some great, essential blocks. Defensively, he played well at the linebacker position and would greatly benefit from increased aggressiveness, decisiveness, and play recognition. Regardless, [player_tooltip player_id="290764" first="Alek" last="Martinez"] is a good player who will make a name for himself if he keeps working his tail off up until Fall.
