Good size at 5-foot-11 and 155 pounds as an eighth grade quarterback. Does a good job avoiding pressure, as he was under heavy duress often times this season. Likes to move the pocket after he receives the snap, but consistently keeps eyes down field. Has made some nice throws during camp clips I’ve seen at the Elite11 and the Elev8QB Academy winter camp. Played for the Arizona Snakes Pop Warner team this past fall.
Colton Raetzman | Athlete
Physically advanced with a great body type to go with it. Last height and weight I could see on Raetzman was 5-foot-10 and 155 pounds, but he certainly looks taller than that. Not a burner right off the line, but has the ability to run past Defensive Backs if their eyes get locked in the backfield. Love his body control and ability to adjust to the ball. Also a stud on the baseball diamond.
Eli Cronin | Linebacker
The future Basha High School prospect is giving Bears fans a lot to be excited about. Saw him at the AYF National All-Star Game earlier in February. Can’t miss the long hair flowing out of his helmet, but he came alive during live thud drills. A rangy outside linebacker, he did pretty well in pass drops but really shined, along with the other linebackers, when it was time to come up in run support.
Jai Ewing | Athlete
A little smaller than some of the other prospects I’m used to covering on the eighth grade level, Ewing is listed at 5-foot-7 and 130 pounds. However, he is a fun kid to watch. Ewing has excellent hands and concentration when the ball is in the air. Then, after the catch, he has the speed and vision of a running back that makes him a very dangerous weapon to have in the arsenal. Played for the Scottsdale Argonauts this past season.
Jake Rogers | Quarterback
Rogers is a quarterback prospect that makes coaches breath easy on the sidelines. He’s a cerebral kid who does a very good job of protecting the football. Rogers has the added advantage of being the son of current Salpointe Catholic head coach, Eric Rogers. After leading the Tucson Jaguars to the AYF 13U National Championship this December, the younger Rogers will join his dad in the hopes to leading Salpointe to its first state championship since 2013.
Oliver Simmers Oliver Simmers 5'11" | 170 lbs | WR Cienega | 2026 AZ | Defensive Back
After wrestling with the thought of re-classifying to the class of 2027, Simmers has seemingly made his mind up to staying in the class of 2026. He’s a very good and physical athlete in the secondary. He already has a build that looks like he could play on most varsity programs in the country at 5-foot-10 and 160 pounds. Saw him at the NextGen camp in Las Vegas and was instantly impressed with nearly every aspect of his game.
Jalen Horn | Athlete
I wrestled with what position to list Horn as, but ultimately I landed on athlete because he can do pretty much anything on the football field. Standing 5-foot-9 and 160 pounds, he’s absolutely rocked up for just being in the eighth grade. He has the tackling ability of a linebacker, the size and footwork of a defensive back and the hands of a wide receiver. Has played 7v7 with the Tucson Turf this off-season.
Kamden Segall | Wide Receiver
In my opinion, the prospect who is “next up” at Saguaro High School will be Segall. Billed at 6-foot-1 and 165 pounds, there isn’t anything he can’t do at a high level right now. Makes plays on all levels, whether screen game, short-to-intermediate, or vertical. Tracks the ball well on deep shots and has elite body control on passes he needs to adjust for. Expect him to play varsity early in his career at SagU and the offers should start to roll in.
Roman Pit-Og | Offensive Line
Pit-Og was named an AYF National All-Star following his season with the Oro Valley Dolphins this past year. A solid interior offensive lineman with a martial arts background that visibly translates into violent and accurate strikes that stifle pass rushes. Was told that he will be moving to Virginia for high school. I look forward to seeing how he progresses.
Rylan Reyes Rylan Reyes 5'11" | 180 lbs | QB American Leadership Academy Queen Creek | 2026 State AZ | Quarterback
An extremely accurate passer, Reyes is a prospect that kept popping up every time I did film study. He doesn’t have the strongest arm on downfield throws right now, but hopefully that will come as he continues to progress. Has very good escapability once the pocket collapses. He’s going to be one to keep an eye on.
Tyler Burnstein | Defensive Line
Only took a few minutes of watching Burnstein warm up at the NextGen camp in Las Vegas before I got very interested in him. At 6-foot-3 and 180 pounds, he’s a high cut defensive end with long limbs that can straight up get after the quarterback. Not even scratching the surface of how good he can be, once he gets into a high school weight program, he’s going to get big quickly. A little stiff right now, could get a little more flexible. Without question, looks like he’ll be a next-level prospect.
Van Birchak | Running Back
The son of an MMA fighter (his father is Anthony Birchak), toughness and advanced ability are in his bloodlines. He was the offensive catalyst for the 13U Tucson Jaguars team that reached the AYF National Championship, highlighted by a pair of touchdown runs in the semi-finals that propelled his team. Very athletic kid with a strong, lean build. Was much harder to bring down than one would expect at first look. Not sure what sport he’ll make his mark in, but he’s a promising athlete.
