That being said, check out the defensive lineman you should keep an eye on in the class of 2023 from the Garden State.
DE, Elhadji Diana , Montgomery
6’3 200
Mr. Diana made the most of his first year on varsity. He is a fierce edge rusher in the 2024 class with good size and quickness. Diana uses his length his length to his advantage and makes plays happen. He doesn’t let blockers get into the framework of his body using violent hands to get to the ball carrier. Diana has excellent knee bend when attacking the edge and also has force to apply pressure. He finished the season with 1 sack and 8 tackles and will look to build on this season with a strong offseason to perfect his craft for next season. He is definitely someone you should watch out for and will be a name to know moving forward.
DT, Quamar Ayscue, Passaic County Tech
6’2 250
Mr. Ayscue wreaked havoc in 2021 and turned heads. He was a constant disruption for opposing offenses. Ayscue plays with good leverage and pad level. He is athletic for his size displaying good hand placement and first-step quickness. Ayscue finished the season with 2 sacks, 3 TFL, 4 FF, and 28 tackles. He is arguably one of the best interior linemen heading into next season with high expectations surrounding him. Ayscue will have a huge senior season.
DL, Anthony Faraone, Sparta
6’3 290
Mr. Faraone is a massive interior lineman that has a good understanding of gap control. He uses his size to control the line of scrimmage. Faraone does a good job being stout in the double team and does not get pushed back often. He is strong and physical and the point of attack. Faraone finished the season with one sack and 20 tackles. He will be a key factor heading into his senior season. You should expect him to be a difference-maker for the Sparta defense.
DE/ DT, Patrick Cecala, Seton Hall Prep
6’1 200
Mr. Cecala had a solid junior year. He is a versatile athlete that can play the edge and interior. Cecala is tough and never takes a play off. He constantly hustles to the football and finishes tackles. Cecala finished his junior year with one sack and 6 tackles. He has tremendous upside heading into the 2022 season. Cecala will play a huge role.
