Quarterbacks can be gunslinging pocket passers, helm-steering game managers, or dual-threat do-alls who play an imperative role for their teams. This article will take a look at the top overall ranked quarterback from each class heading into the fall, including a highly anticipated incoming freshman.
Brayden Dorman Brayden Dorman 6'5" | 200 lbs | QB Vista Ridge | 2023 State CO | Vista Ridge | 6’5”, 205lbs | 2023
Not only is Dorman considered to be the best QB in his class in Colorado, but he is also considered by many to be one of the top QB’s in the nation. Dorman easily passes the eye test as a towering athlete who has a Howitzer for an arm. He threw for over 2,700 yards and racked up 30 touchdowns this past season. He is a natural pocket passer with a smooth throwing motion and quick release.
Dorman’s list of offers has grown substantially since receiving his first one from Iowa State following his freshman season. He recently narrowed his college focus to five schools, Oregon State, Colorado, Arizona, Mississippi State, and Iowa State. Since making that announcement, Dorman has received an offer from Cal and a re-offer from Colorado State’s new coaching staff.
Blake Barnett Blake Barnett 6'2" | 210 lbs | QB Erie | 2024 State CO | Erie | 6’2”, 205lbs | 2024
Barnett is a dual-threat QB who is just as dangerous of a runner as he is a passer, finishing his sophomore year with over 2,500 passing yards and over 1,000 rushing yards. Barnett has a strong arm and can make a variety of throws at different levels with ease. As a runner, he has the vision and power of a halfback that make him one of the most dangerous players on the field for any defense. Barnett is an absolute stud who seems to find ways to reach the endzone. He threw 27 touchdowns as a passer and scored 24 touchdowns as a rusher. Barnett ended his first full season with a trip to the 4A state championship game and earned offers from CU and CSU, while also garnering attention from notable schools across the country.
Bekkem Kritza Bekkem Kritza 6'4" | 180 lbs | QB Santa Margarita Catholic | 2025 CA | Fairview | 6’4”, 180lbs | 2025
Kritza is arguably the nation’s top QB in the 2025 class. In fact, he finished as the only freshman in the country to reach the 3,000 passing yards mark during the regular season. Two of the many things that make Kritza a great QB are his arm strength and the accuracy of his throws. His ability to throw the deep bomb and put the ball on the money looks to be done with minimal effort on his part. Kritza is more of a pocket passer, but that does not mean that he lacks the ability to use his legs to extend plays or pick up yards as a runner. At such an early stage in his career, Kritza currently holds an offer from the CU and is already growing accustomed to being under a national spotlight, making him the obvious pick for the best QB in the class to keep at the top of the radar.
DJ Bordeaux DJ Bordeaux 6'3" | 190 lbs | QB Alpharetta | 2026 State GA | ThunderRidge | 2026
At this point in time, the majority of talk surrounding in-coming freshmen is based on speculation, but Bordeaux is a young dual-threat QB whose future is worth speculating over. Each of the quarterbacks previously mentioned debuted under the varsity lights during their freshmen years and Bordeaux fits that mold. He recently announced his decision to attend ThunderRidge High School and is considered by some to be the top 2026 QB in the state.
