The Class of 2024 includes 15 players (out of 77 total) who have already notched impressive campaigns from their spots in the backfield. Their skill sets are vast, and some of their numbers are already making some schools abandon previous ideas for spread offenses.
In Part II, we’ll look at the seven backs who all fell inside the top 30 of the overall rankings for the class.
Jaden Singletary Jaden Singletary 5'10" | 190 lbs | RB Indian Land | 2024 State SC , Indian Land
Singletary and his hard-nosed style have had people taking notice for the better part of two seasons. He never shies away from contact, and his stout frame make him difficult to bring down. After this offseason, we expect a big jump from him starting his junior season.
Jaden Allen-Hendrix Jaden Allen-Hendrix 6'2" | 230 lbs | RB Irmo | 2024 State SC , Gilbert
Allen-Hendrix may ultimately have no choice but to move positions. That’s the burden of being 6-foot-2 and 230 pounds as a sophomore. For now, he’s gonna continue making opposing linebackers pay, like he did in 2021 – when he rushed for 1,064 yards and 18 touchdowns.
Carmello McDaniel Carmello McDaniel 5'8" | 175 lbs | RB Hartsville | 2024 State SC , Hartsville
McDaniel’s numbers speak for themselves. As a sophomore, the tailback went for 1,289 yards and 21 touchdowns while averaging an insane 9.8 yards per carry. He’s got a stout line returning and both of his backfield mates in town for 2022. So the sky is the limit.
Turbo Richard Turbo Richard 5'10" | 205 lbs | RB Northwestern | 2024 State SC , Northwestern
A burner with 4.5 speed already, Richard was often all by himself beyond the defense. After all, he rushed for 1,054 yards and nine scores and caught another 183 yards worth of passes. That kind of production in that region at that age ignited what will be a dynamic prep career.
Davian Brown Davian Brown 5'7" | 190 lbs | RB Fort Dorchester | 2024 State SC , First Baptist
Among this list, no tailback has more experience than Brown. Thanks to SCISA rules, he began starting as an eight grader (when he rushed for 943 yards and 16 touchdowns) and he really hasn’t slowed down since. He’ll enter his junior season with well over 3,000 career yards.
Kevon Rivera Kevon Rivera 5'9" | 215 lbs | RB Hanahan | 2024 State SC , Hanahan
We have yet to update Rivera’s weight, but now that he’s pushing 220 pounds, it makes sense why Hanahan does anything it can to put the ball in his hands. Using combinations of direct snaps, wing formations and conventional hand offs, he rushed for 1,024 yards and nine touchdowns last season.
Traevon Dunbar Traevon Dunbar 5'10" | 205 lbs | RB Midland Valley | 2024 State SC , Silver Bluff
Dunbar is the No. 2 ranked player in the state after giving us no choice. As a sophomore, the likely future FBS player racked up 1,959 yards and 28 touchdowns on the ground and caught seven passes for 148 yards and another score. He’ll likely flirt with the top overall spot for the next two seasons.
