Now, I’ll take a look at five of the big guys up front that impressed me.
Sullivan Absher Sullivan Absher 6'7" | 300 lbs | OL South Point | 2023 State NC , 6’7 290, 2023- South Point
Absher turned potential into production as a junior. Coming into this year, the only question I had was whether Absher could put on some weight and retain his elite athleticism. Before this year, he added about 30 pounds but still showed the quickness he showed as a sophomore. He can play on either side of the line and seems to be improving his strength and football IQ every game. It’s obvious on film why he’s a Power Five recruit.
Cade Goldman Cade Goldman 6'4" | 295 lbs | OL Hickory Ridge | 2022 State NC , 6’4 295, 2022- Hickory Ridge
Goldman impressed me this season with his strength and quickness as a tackle. In my opinion (an opinion shared by most of our staff) Charlotte got a steal in Goldman, whose only “holdback” is his lack of elite size. If you turn on his tape, that doesn’t matter as he frequently blows players off the line and excels as a down blocker, able to wipe out defensive tackles and linebackers alike. He’s one of the most talented players in the 2022 class and I wouldn’t be shocked to see him contribute early in college.
Samuel Whitt Samuel Whitt 6'0" | 275 lbs | OL East Surry | 2022 State NC , 6’ 275, 2022- East Surry
There are some (Including myself a while ago) that had some concerns with Whitt’s size and level of competition, but I think that narrative has been put to rest now. Whitt was one of the best offensive linemen in the region that I scouted in the offseason, frequently outperforming players from higher classifications and going toe-to-toe with some of the best defensive linemen in the state. The moment I realized he was the real deal was right after he won back-to-back reps against one of the top defensive linemen with multiple Power Five offers. He turned in a strong season and I love the pickup for Lenoir-Rhyne.
Kadin Lynch Kadin Lynch 6'4" | 280 lbs | OL Asheville | 2022 State NC , 6’4 295, 2022- Asheville
Lynch put together another strong season as a senior, playing mostly right tackle and showing why he’s one of the more powerful blockers in the state. Asheville also played a difficult schedule this season and Lynch held his own, even against stiffer competition. He’s always been a strong run blocker, but this season, took great strides in pass protection. He’s another player that excels in the classroom and his recruitment is picking up just at the right time.
Tyler Clark Tyler Clark 6'4" | 280 lbs | OL CE Jordan | 2024 State NC , 6’3 250, 2024- Jordan High School
Clark is the youngest player on our list but he has a considerable amount of talent and potential. I love his athleticism as he excels at getting downfield to block linebackers and safeties. He’ll need to put on some more weight but I love him as a guard. The fact that he can play both ways is an added bonus and is a testament to his athleticism. His sophomore season was fantastic.
