We have a clear top-3 in our C/O 2023 RB rankings. [player_tooltip player_id="162655" first="Cole" last="Cabana"], [player_tooltip player_id="186866" first="Nolan" last="Ray"], and [player_tooltip player_id="243468" first="Ethan" last="Clark"]. All with multiple Division 1 offers and all making it look easy on Friday Nights. Here, I’ll take a deep dive into each of these freaks of nature and try to dissect what makes them the athletes that they’ve grown into.
<strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">[player_tooltip player_id="162655" first="Cole" last="Cabana"] (Dexter)</span></strong>
2187 All-Purpose Yards. 1688 Rushing Yards. 28 Touchdowns. 7 School Records. ALL against great competition. With at least 17 division 1 offers, [player_tooltip player_id="162655" first="Cole" last="Cabana"] is the obvious #1 running back in the state. First, let’s talk about speed. What does a 10.69 100M dash mean to you? How about a 4.43 40-yard dash? To me, it means blazing-fast all-state caliber speed. I mean, I know people who work tirelessly with speed and struggle getting below an 11.5 100M time. He’s as twitchy as they come as he’s able to change directions in a heartbeat. Now for power, he benches 225 with 10-reps of 185. Squats 375. Without a doubt in my mind, Cabana will continue to light up the field during his senior season and he’ll have a chance to be a premier back at a division 1 program.
<strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">[player_tooltip player_id="186866" first="Nolan" last="Ray"] (Brother Rice)</span></strong>
Playing for a very balanced Brother Rice offense, [player_tooltip player_id="186866" first="Nolan" last="Ray"] racked up 1,097 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns + 198 yards receiving and 2 touchdowns. Ray is another Division 1 prospect with offers from the likes of Boston College, Pitt, and Maryland. What impresses me most about Ray is his balance. He’s able to quickly get out of trouble at the line and make great gains, along with powering through tackles and staying on his feet for as long as possible. His vision is also quite nice. Overall, [player_tooltip player_id="186866" first="Nolan" last="Ray"] is an excellent running back and will without a doubt have a big senior year for the Warriors and go on to a great university.
<strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">[player_tooltip player_id="243468" first="Ethan" last="Clark"] (Clarkston) </span></strong>
On a stacked team with a history of success, [player_tooltip player_id="243468" first="Ethan" last="Clark"] totaled 1500 rushing yards with 20 touchdowns, 240 receiving yards with 5 touchdowns. With a 275lb bench and 360lb deadlift, I see Clark as a dominant power back. He runs with ferocity and determination, and his overall skillet will lend itself very well to the college level. In addition, he’s a great receiving threat. He’s elusive, very fast, and sports elite power. He has major upside as a power back as well as blocking, and I can’t wait to see what his senior season has to offer!
