If you have been following along (thank you to those that have), we recently looked at some of the top offensive and defensive standouts by district in Class 5A. Now, we shift down the ladder to Class 4A, starting with District 1. This league includes Fort Dodge, Webster City and Denison-Schleswig. [player_tooltip player_id="104716" first="Javion" last="Jondle"] - Fort Dodge - WR - 6-3 - 192 Following in the footsteps of all-state wide receiver and current Northern Iowa player Ty Kershaw, [player_tooltip player_id="104716" first="Javion" last="Jondle"] took up the mantle of leading receiver for Fort Dodge this past fall. He caught 54 passes for 880 yards with seven touchdowns. Like Kershaw, Jondle blends speed with excellent size, checking in at 6-foot-3 and over 190 pounds. He is a big, physical target with soft hands who will also go over the middle into coverage to make the play. Jondle has explosive speed, but where he is at his best is in the end zone where he can out-jump and out-work the defense. [player_tooltip player_id="152539" first="Connor" last="Carver"] - Fort Dodge - QB - 6-2 - 194 In his first season at quarterback, [player_tooltip player_id="152539" first="Connor" last="Carver"] carved up opposing defenses on a weekly basis. He threw for over 2,100 yards with 16 touchdowns, completing almost 60 percent of his passes. Carver also added five rushing scores and 118 yards on the ground. With top targets like [player_tooltip player_id="104716" first="Javion" last="Jondle"] and Grant Williams set to return, Carver should be primed for a breakthrough senior season. He has good size, a strong arm and reads defenses very quickly and very accurately. [player_tooltip player_id="156632" first="Jaxon" last="Cherry"] - Webster City - RB/LB - 6-2 - 210 The power-back at Webster City, [player_tooltip player_id="156632" first="Jaxon" last="Cherry"] scored 19 touchdowns on 136 carries, recording 936 yards. Along with being a strong, physical runner, he has plenty of speed, as evident by his 70-yard TD burst. Along with being able to gain the tough yard by out-working the defense in the trenches, Cherry has the quickness to burn by would-be tacklers. Cherry was also a beast on defense for the Lynx, recording five tackles for loss and a pair of sacks among his 61 tackles. [player_tooltip player_id="152706" first="CJ" last="Hisler"] - Webster City - RB/S - 5-11 - 185 The other half to the dynamic backfield at Webster City, [player_tooltip player_id="152706" first="CJ" last="Hisler"] racked up over 1,000 yards rushing and scored seven touchdowns. Hisler, a strong two-way player who excels on defense as well, averaged over nine yards per carry. Hisler is quite the dual-threat, catching eight passes for another 100-plus yards in the offense. His natural instincts allow him to be a threat to take it the distance each time he touches the ball. Hisler also showcased his skills in the return game, averaging almost 37 yards with two touchdowns on kickoffs. He could become a valuable player at several positions at the next level. [player_tooltip player_id="247928" first="Luke" last="Wiebers"] - Denison-Schleswig - QB/DB - 6-1 - 145 In his first year as the starter, [player_tooltip player_id="247928" first="Luke" last="Wiebers"] showed incredible growth for Denison-Schleswig. Wiebers completed over 51 percent of his passes for 1,096 yards with six touchdowns. He also added 175 yards rushing. Wiebers was dangerous in the red zone, taking in seven rushing scores on his 60 carries. That is where he really showed what he could be, making sure to get the Monarchs in the end zone with his true athletic abilities and skills.
