Some small school athletes have made their mark on the 2021 season, all of which will return in 2022 as they’ll look to capitalize on some strong sophomore and junior campaigns. Here’s a look at the offensive breakouts from 2A ball:
[player_tooltip player_id="115516" first="Zayden" last="Neill"], QB, San Tan Charter ’24
Neill led 2A in passing by throwing for 2,620 yards and 26 TD’s, and has been impressing since his freshman season in 2020. He stands 6’1" 160lbs and possesses a handful of intangibles to translate to the next level, as he recently picked up his first offer from Southeast Missouri State. He possesses a good arm talent with strength to stretch the field vertically or hit throws with velocity. He flashes good pocket mechanics and movement while keeping his eyes downfield, and has hit numerous throws with superb ball placement.

[player_tooltip player_id="115520" first="Michael" last="Casillas"], RB, Morenci ’24
This is the second time this week I’ve mentioned Casillas, as he earned himself a top spot on the breakout list. He led 2A in rushing with 1,846 yards and 26 TD’s. Casillas displays solid top end speed with a nice burst, and has shown glimpses of adding twitch to his game. Casillas should be a lethal player in 2A for the next two years, and will be a kid to keep tabs on.
[player_tooltip player_id="214119" first="Cristian" last="Pando"], RB, Wilcox ’23
Pando put up 1,629 yards and 27 TD’s with only 1 fumble on the year. Excellent ball security with workhorse ability as he carried the rock 228 times in 11 games, leading 2A in carries. North-south, power back type style with a thick frame and build at 5’10" 185lbs that brings physicality to the POC every time he touches the ball. Mean, angry downhill runner that is the epitome of old school football. Just a flat out hard-nosed kid that will run through a wall of opponents and finish long runs for six.
[player_tooltip player_id="42942" first="Marcus" last="Oberriter"], ATH, Holbrook ’23

Oberriter is a gritty, scrappy northern AZ kid that does all the little things right. Two-way starter for Holbrook, as he held the QB1 reigns and threw for 1,690 yards and 21 TD’s, while adding 1,003 yards rushing with 17 TD’s. Big play ability on his feet as he possesses solid COD while flashing some twitch, which frequently makes opponents miss, making him dangerous in space at the 2A level.
[player_tooltip player_id="115530" first="Daniel" last="Dippre"], WR, San Tan Charter ’24
Dippre led 2A in receiving by joining the 1,000 yard club (1,080) on 78 receptions with 11 TD’s. He shows a nice burst off the LOS and does a great job taking advantage of DB cushion to generate that separation. He possesses natural ball skills with excellent body control to haul in catches from difficult angles. Tons of raw ability and is the most complete and polished WR in 2A ball, and still has 2 years left to go. He’s established a lethal connection with QB [player_tooltip player_id="115516" first="Zayden" last="Neill"], so Dippre is going to be a kid you need on your radar, projecting he puts up eye popping numbers for the next two years.
