Patelo Gi – Serra was able to control time of possession, mainly in the first half due to the running of Gi. He drives his feet through contact and makes six yard plays out of nothing. He benefits from the misdirection of Serra’s running game, but often he was hit at the line of scrimmage and made positive plays. Gi rushed for 122 yards on 25 carries against Mater Dei.

Drew Azzopardi Drew Azzopardi 6'6" | 300 lbs | OL Serra - San Mateo | 2022 State CA – Azzopardi was the best offensive lineman on the field for Serra against Mater Dei. He gets to the next level well in the running game and can pass protect. He did a decent job slowing down a dominant sophomore pass rusher from Mater Dei and his motor is impressive. He is committed to San Diego State.
Thank you @CoachMGoff for coming to our house for a visit. Great speaking with you about @AztecFB football.@AztecRecruits pic.twitter.com/brgDg6AfDn

Ryan Silver – Silver is a big interior offensive lineman who did a nice job against Mater Dei. When Mater Dei got into the backfield it was typically on the edge and not from the nose position. He can play center at the next level and is athletic enough to pull in the power running game or get down field on screens. He has an offer from Nevada.
MATER DEI
Elijah Brown – Brown is undefeated as a starting quarterback and was as polished and poised as ever in the championship game. He threw a deep touchdown pass on the opening drive of the game that was a college level throw. He keeps his eyes down the field when under pressure and can extend plays with his legs. Brown is one of the most promising sophomore quarterbacks I have seen.
Elijah Brown really is a sophomore. Passes 78 yards to Cooper Barkate. Mater Dei 7, San Mateo Serra 0. pic.twitter.com/q7ALvloUlV

Cooper Barkate Cooper Barkate 6'1" | 185 lbs | ATH Mater Dei | 2022 State CA – Barkate was the receiver on that deep touchdown pass and he had other good plays besides that. He beat a Division 1 level cornerback in man coverage when the corner had eight yards of cushion to work with. Barkate is a good deep threat, can make plays after the catch and can block down the field. He is going to Harvard and has the potential to be an All-Ivy League player in college.
Brandon Baker Brandon Baker 6'5" | 290 lbs | OL Mater Dei | 2024 State CA – The left side of Mater Dei’s offensive line features two sophomore linemen who are Power 5 prospects. Baker had a particularly great game in the title game. He got a good push in the running game, used his hips for leverage and looked more athletic than he did earlier in the season when I saw him.
Raleek Brown Raleek Brown 5'9" | 185 lbs | RB Mater Dei | 2022 State CA – Brown didn’t have the highlight reel run that everyone is used to seeing, but he had an effective game on the ground. He converted some third downs and scored three touchdowns. On the clip below, watch how fast he can turn on the jets after a stutter step. The logical comparison for him is Reggie Bush because of his agility and ability to make tacklers miss.
