Kobe Boykin Kobe Boykin 5'9" | 175 lbs | RB Los Alamitos | 2024 CA , Orange, RB/ATH
Boykin is the biggest offensive playmaker in the county for his class. He can break off a big run at any time and can also hurt you in the passing game and on special teams. His agility is next level, he can cut on a dime and catch an entire defense over-pursuing. Boykin is not a big guy but he also is tough for tacklers to bring down. He is the first player you notice when you watch Orange play. He has seven offers including four from the Pac 12.

Carter Christie, Villa Park, OLB/RB
Christie, like some others on this list, is one of those guys who doesn’t look like a sophomore on the field. He is very fast and has a bigger frame than a lot of sophomore skill players. He will be the top running back for Villa Park next year and is an excellent pass rusher on defense. He has a high motor which made him a major asset on special teams as a sophomore. Christie will be one of the top two-way players in Southern California for the next two years.

Josiah Lamarque Josiah Lamarque 5'10" | 175 lbs | ATH Newport Harbor | 2024 State CA , Newport Harbor, WR/DB
If you want to watch a master class on receiving, watch Lamarque’s highlights (below) against Santa Barbara in the playoffs. He consistently burned guys on double moves and made huge plays. He high points the ball in a way that would impress elite receiving coaches. Lamarque can make plays after the catch and also makes plays on the ball as a corner. He can cover guys in the slot or split out wide and can play in multiple coverages.
My postgame interview with @JosiahLamarque who had 2 touchdown catches, as he helped @NHTarsFootball rally back to win the CIF-SS Division 6 championship. He and @HenjumKashton are probably the Mike Evans/Chris Godwin or CeeDee Lamb/Amari Cooper of this team. @Sunset_Rewind pic.twitter.com/bJ9BWAqjHe

Anthony Luna, Western, QB
Western is a tough team to evaluate because they are the best team in their league and it’s not even close. But Luna fared well against better competition too. I don’t believe for a second that he is 6 feet tall or 205 pounds, but it doesn’t matter because he sees the field very well and extends plays with his legs. He has a smooth release and his biggest strength is that he knows when to fire it in there and went to put some air under his throws. He has room to improve but show me a sophomore quarterback who doesn’t. He has a solid foundation to be on and will be near the top of the Southern Section leaderboards for the next two years. He had 2700 yards and 34 touchdowns.
Western QB Anthony Luna stresses the importance of preparation in the win over Anaheim. Luna passed for 247 yards and 2 TDs.@ocvarsity @anthonyyl17 @westernpioneer1 @CoachDavidsonWH pic.twitter.com/sRWcE582Zh

Jack Matranga Jack Matranga 6'1" | 210 lbs | LB Mission Viejo | 2024 State CA , Mission Viejo, LB
Matranga can line up at defensive end or at middle linebacker which makes him more versatile than most sophomore defensive players. He is already an elite pass rusher but he has other strengths too. He is solid in pass coverage for a player of his size. He defends the zone read better than most senior defensive ends—he splits the difference between the quarterback and running back perfectly and makes the quarterback’s read hard. He sometimes gives up his outside contain but he is a good enough tackler to make up for it. He was a borderline All-County guy as a sophomore and I expect him to be the best public school defensive player in the county in two years.
