2022 RB Tyreke Spikes (Winton Woods) 5’7 165- The diminutive running back had another huge game against Archbishop Hoban. Spikes had 153 yards on 22 carries for 6.9 yards per carry and a touchdown. His vision, elusiveness, and speed were once again on full display in the Warriors biggest game of the season. TyRek is currently getting solid D2 interests.
2023 RB Lamar Sperling (Archbishop Hoban) 5’10 180- Sperling didn’t have quite the night of his running back counterpart in Spikes, but 24 rushes for 121 yards. This week Sperling was named Division 2 offensive player of the year. Coming off a huge playoff run of performances. While Woods gave up the short yardage plays to Sperling they never allowed him to break a long one.
2022 RB Demarcus McElroy (Youngstown Ursuline) 5’8 179- McElroy another back of the smaller variety, was a tough tackle in the finals. He darted his way to 157 yards on 26 carries and 2 TD’s. McElroy is getting some D2 interest.
2022 QB Peyton Otte (Marion Local) 6’0 185- Otte had probably his best passing game of the season and it came in the state finals. He was a very efficient 13 for 18 for 252 yards and 3 TD’s. He was good on his short and intermediate passes, but where he was really impressive was on his deep throws. When pushing the ball down the field, the ball was placed right on his wide receiver’s hands without their breaking stride.
2022 WR Brady Ronnebaum (Marion Local) 5’11 160- Ronnebaum was Peyton Otte’s favorite target on the day as he caught 6 of his 7 targets for 124 yards and 2 TD’s. Ronnebaum did a great job of getting separation and making the catches even when contested.
2022 QB Carson Bey (Versailles) 5’11 170- Bey’s numbers weren’t anything to set the world on fire. He had a little over 200 yards of total offense on around 40 combined rushes and passes. That being said the grit and fire Bey played with cannot be understated. He consistently made key play after key play to keep the chains moving and cap drives off with scores and dominate the time of possession.
2022 Te’Sean Smoot Te’Sean Smoot 5'11" | 180 lbs | QB Springfield | 2022 State OH (Springfield) 6’0 180- Smoot completed 29 of 43 passes for 349 yards and 1 touchdown. His composure, accuracy, ability to throw on the run were all on display. In the end he did force a couple of throws that did end up in interceptions. In the end it’s easy to see though, why he finished as runner up for Mr. Football Ohio. Te’Sean has a pocket full of D1 offers.
2022 RB Danny Enovitch (St. Ed’s) 5’11 188- Enovitch had the biggest rushing stats of the weekend rushing 32 times for 210 yards and 2 touchdowns. As a runner he showed good patience a great burst to hit the holes and a strong running style that makes him tough to bring down.
2023 WR Shawn Thigpen Shawn Thigpen 6'4" | 180 lbs | WR Springfield | 2023 State OH (Springfield) 6’4 190- Thigpen saved his best game of the season for the State Finals. He caught 10 of his 12 targets for 105 yards. He’s a big target who knows how to get open versus man or zone coverage. He’s getting significant power 5 interest.
