The WR group was very polished and explosive. I was impressed with what I saw in the drills and in the 1 on 1’s. Big and small, these receivers put on a great show for the 50+ college scouts that were in attendance. And let me be clear, SEVERAL PLAYERS GOT OFFERS AFTER ATTENDING THIS SHOWCASE!!! So in review:
- There are college coaches searching right now, looking to give you a shot to play at the next level.
- Coach Tom Pajic and his staff created an opportunity for South Jersey players right in your own back yard.
- When Jersey Gridiron Scout hosts an event, you should go.
Now let’s talk about these receivers.
Cameron Burti, Jr., WR, Cherokee
Cam is a smooth athlete and a savvy route runner. He uses leverage and body positioning well to get on top of defenders and create separation. His film shows using these skills often, especially on slant and drag routs across the middle. You’ll love how he adjusts to the ball and extends his arms and so he can run through the catch for extra yards. He showed all these skills and more in his 5 catch, 82 yard performance against North Brunswick this season. Looking for big things from him in his senior year.

Samir Garrison, Jr., WR, Buena
Samir is incredibly agile. His athleticism jumped out at me during the drills as he made sharp cuts and displayed elite change of direction skills. All of this was on display in his film as he is amazing in the open field, with footwork that often left would be tacklers hugging air. He even completed several long passes off of half back passes. So let’s review. Samir catches a quick hitch. He can juke you out of your shoes, he can run right past you with his speed or he can throw the ball over your head for a long completion. The Buena coaches did the right thing in their offensive play calling. Just get this young man in space and let him work.

Shawn Cullen, Sr., WR, Camden Catholic
Shawn showed great ability to accelerate out of his cuts in his drills and showed great hands all day. When you watch his film, you’re impressed with how often he makes tough catches, going the ground to make possession catches for first downs, getting his feet in bounds for touchdowns and snagging balls down in traffic. He specifically tracks the ball well on deep balls, making difficult over shoulder catches look easy. Shawn had it all working when the Irish played Princeton as he had 5 catches for 132 yards and a touchdown in their 38-10 victory.

Connor Daly, Sr., WR, Delran
Delran plays pretty run heavy offense, but Connor got it done in many ways for his team. 5 times this season he had more than 100 All-Purpose yards and he was named a first team All Colonial conference WR. Connor has a strong build and was excellent in and out of his breaks at the showcase. He carried that into the 1 on 1’s, going to the ground for tough catches and displayed great hands on deep balls. Congratulations are in order as since the showcase, Connor has received an offer from Fairleigh Dickenson University!
