His performance on offense, defense and special teams helped the Outlaws to the 2A State Championship. The quarterback scored on a 13 yard run in the second quarter to give Marlow a 7-0 lead. He followed that up with a 6 yard toss for another score to make 14-7 right before halftime. In the second half, it was a stalemate, as both teams struggled offensively. He added ten yards and a score on the ground. But what really put Marlow over the top was his abilities as a punter. Gilbert averaged 45 yards on 4 punts and impressively all 4 punts pinned Washington inside their own 20. On top of that, 2 of those punts finished inside the Washington 10. Gilbert has been one of the top overall players in Oklahoma and when it comes to his future as a prospect, he’s one of the best kickers in the country. It’s not as flashy as running for over 200 yards and multiple touchdowns but his leg was a major weapon for the Outlaws. Especially as a punter, which helped them dominate the field position battle. Which in a close game, his ability to win the field position game for Marlow was crucial to their victory. &nbsp;
