Now that the regular season is over, all-star games in the state also came to an end last week, giving young prospects a chance to show their talent one final time with the pads on. Now that last year’s film is making waves across college desks, we’re starting to see some players from all over the peach state start to earn some major offers.
Here are some breakout prospects from December on the recruiting trail...

Just a sophomore, Peterson is a versatile athlete who can line up at linebacker and really help on special teams as well. A smaller, quicker linebacker, the 5-foot-11 175-pounder is a quick-reacting defender who has no problem chasing down the ball carrier. He plays at a fast and high level for someone his age, showing why he’s reeling in impressive D1 offers as a young player. One of the top 2024 athletes overall west of Atlanta, Peterson now holds offers from Michigan and Ole Miss with more likely on the way. Last fall, Peterson made 71 tackles and recovered one fumble, taking it back for a defensive touchdown.

Zion Ferguson – CB – Grayson
One of the top young defensive backs in Gwinnett County, Ferguson is one of the hottest prospects across the state right now, adding multiple D1 offers from Ole Miss, Georgia, Florida State, South Carolina, Pitt, among others. He’s long, athletic, and went up against some of the best receivers in the state. He more than held his own as a sophomore, using his length and speed to stay on the hip of the opposing receivers. He broke up a decent amount of passes last year and showed he can really close when the ball is in the air. He ended the year on a strong note and is only scratching the surface of his potential.

Daniel James - Defensive Back - McEachern
Another 2024 defender, James is a sure-tackling defensive back for his size who knows how to get his man to the ground. He has some length to him with a 5-foot-11 165-pound frame and was really impressive in last weeks’ Elite Georgia Classic, making plays down the field in coverage. He runs well, plays physical for someone his age and size, and did it all against some really tough 7A competition. He’s only going to get better and he recently earned his first offer from N.C State. As he continues to grow and develop, look for more schools to jump in with an offer.

[player_tooltip player_id="165722" first="Makari" last="Bodiford"] - RB - McEachern
The McEachern Indians are loaded with talent and one of their top young stars is Bodiford, their sophomore running back. The tough 6-foot-0 205-pounder was one of the top backs in the region this past fall, rushing for 712 yards and 12 touchdowns. He shows good burst and vision for his age and can change directions well for someone 200+ pounds. He looks like an upperclassmen running the ball, falling forward at the end of runs and showing he can break off a long run at any point. He has an impressive year for a sophomore running the ball in 7A, and it’s resulted in a recent offer from Cincinnati.
