The Class 3A state championship is set for 1PM on December 3rd at UCO. It’ll be a rematch of last year’s state championship game as top-ranked Lincoln Christian takes on defending champ Holland Hall. Prep Redzone Oklahoma will have the most in-depth championship preview and state title game content that you will find anywhere!. In this post, we take a look at the players to watch for #1 Lincoln Christian as they square off with the Dutch.
<strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">[player_tooltip player_id="155258" first="Easton" last="Rogers"] - 2023 Running Back</span></strong>
Most of the attention in the Lincoln Christian offense goes to the quarterback position with the year that [player_tooltip player_id="52787" first="Max" last="Brown"] is having for the Bulldogs. However, in the backfield with him has been a consistent and steady threat in the running game with junior running back [player_tooltip player_id="155258" first="Easton" last="Rogers"]. The 1-2 punch of Brown and Rogers in the running game has been tough for teams to stop throughout the season. Rogers brings a consistent presence to the running game and whenever Brown needs a break in the offense, they’ve been able to rely on Rogers, who has over ten touchdowns on the ground this season. While Lincoln can be explosive in the passing game, they can also just pound the rock with the running game with Rogers and Brown.
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>Levi Conners - 2022 Wide Receiver</strong></span>
Lincoln Christian senior wide receiver Levi Conners is the perfect example of a "program kid" that has earned everything he’s getting this season. Conners has been under the radar the last few years behind guys like Kolbe Katsis but this season, Connors is having a breakout season. Conners is one of the top wide receivers for the Bulldogs this year and has had an outstanding senior campaign. Lincoln always has a great passing attack, which has led to outstanding performances from wide receivers and Conners has waited for his time in this Lincoln program and it’s paying off this season.
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="52787" first="Max" last="Brown"] - 2022 Quarterback</strong></span>
Few players in the state have made as big of a jump in improvement as Lincoln Christian quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="52787" first="Max" last="Brown"] this season. He was one of the better athletes at the position last year but he has made such a leap in the passing game within this Lincoln offense that he’s on the short list to be a Player Of The Year finalist. Brown has been outstanding all season throwing and running the ball and is the latest example of a must-see quarterback at Lincoln Christian. However, we would make the argument that Brown might be the most athletic of the bunch with his ability to torch defenses in the running game as well as the pass.
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>Tyler Johnson - 2023 Linebacker</strong></span>
When it comes to Lincoln Christian, it’s easy to get sucked into the offense and all of the numbers and stats that they put up but Lincoln has had a stout defense to go with it this season. One of the breakout players for the Bulldogs on that side of the ball has been junior linebacker Tyler Johnson. The Lincoln junior has played all over the field for the Bulldogs and Lincoln’s defense has certainly been tested against explosive players and teams this year and Johnson has answered the call every time. We’re interested to see how he and the Bulldog defense do against a Holland Hall offense that is clicking right now.
