Alemany had a rematch against Bishop Amat in the second round of the playoffs last week. Chalk dominated Amat in the first matchup between the two schools and had an encore performance last week. He rushed for 293 yards on 29 carries for five touchdowns in the 54-38 win.

<strong>Frankie Franchina, Rancho Bernardo, 2022</strong>
Franchina has been the top rusher in the San Diego Section according to MaxPreps nearly all season long. He put the Broncos on his back in a round two win against Poway. The senior ran for 160 yards on 30 carries with two touchdowns in the incredibly close 17-14 game.

<strong>Paul Rodriguez, Anaheim, 2022</strong>
Anaheim is having its best season in over 15 years. The Colonists ran the ball very well in a shootout win over San Bernardino in the second round last week. Rodriguez ran for 146 yards on 21 carries with four touchdowns in the 41-33 win. Rodriguez is approaching 1,000 yards on the season and has rushed for 276 yards in the playoffs so far.

Cathedral Catholic used the run game to cruise to a 38-10 win over Mission Hills in the first round of the CIF-San Diego Section Open Division playoffs. Sutton ran for 194 yards on 23 carries with four touchdowns including a 63 yard touchdown run. Sutton and Cathedral Catholic will play Carlsbad for the Open Division championship.

Apparently it’s San Diego week here on the top rushers list. Washington had the most dominant game in Southern California last week. The senior ran for 337 yards and five touchdowns to help the Highlanders take down Grossmont in the Division 1 playoffs.
