A hard fought game by both teams did not disappoint, as Boden Davidson Boden Davidson 5'10" | 165 lbs | ATH Scottsdale Christian | 2022 State AZ from SCA was a clear offensive MVP, while Prep had numerous players contribute on the offensive side of the ball. Here’s a look at the top offensive players of the game:
Boden Davidson Boden Davidson 5'10" | 165 lbs | ATH Scottsdale Christian | 2022 State AZ , ATH, Scottsdale Christian ’22
Davidson accounted for all of SCA’s scores (3 TD’s) which included the game tying sore, as well as the game winner in overtime. A dynamic player in 2A showed the ability to burn the Prep defense with his speed as a ball carrier as well as in the screen game. He flashed glimpses of a bit of everything on Friday night including burst, vision, balance, COD/lateral agility, top end speed, and physicality in certain situations when needed. Overall a big time performance from Davidson.
Carson Boyll, RB/DB, Scottsdale Prep ’22
Boyll did a great job on both sides of the ball for Scottsdale Prep. He shows a nice burst and possesses good short area quickness. Boyll did a solid job in the screen game and flashed glimpses of being dangerous in space. Not the biggest guy out there at 5’7″ 175lbs but plays well within his size to protect his body. He made numerous opponents miss and flashed a nice spin move, and is a solid overall player for Prep.
Devon Strader, ATH, Scottsdale Prep ’22
Strader was another impact player for Prep and also made an impact on both sides of the ball. A similar player to Boyll, except Strader stands 5’10″ 155lbs and possesses more top end speed and big play ability. They utilized him in a variety of ways, and he was able to punch in a 14 yard TD on a reverse. He hauled in a nice diving catch in the back half of the field, and can burn you on the ground or as a receiver. Overall he looked like the most talented player on that Prep squad.
Ruben Ruyle, RB, Scottsdale Prep ’23
Ruyle is Prep’s physical back for goal line and short yardage situations, and he did a tremendous job filling his role on the night. He hits holes and lanes with a nice burst, and showed glimpses of physicality. He was hesitant through lanes at first, then toward the second half, seemed like he gained some confidence to put his shoulder down and run through contact. He can improve pad level, but overall holds some potential going forward.
Nathan Kammer, WR, Scottsdale Prep ’23
Kammer did a good job tracking the ball and catching passes with coordination and body control. He showed the ability to get over the top of DB’s, and did a great job getting stacked on top of them to frequently put himself in position to make a play. An impressive night for Kammer.
