This week will feature the best offensive performances from the second- round of the playoffs. These incredible athletes deserve some much needed spotlight as we enter the final round of the playoffs. That being said, take a look below at the offensive most valuable players. Sr., QB Matt Wesley , Shawnee Mr. Wesley had an impressive performance against Clearview to capture a win 42-7. Wesley went 18 for 23 , 350 yards and 3 TDs. He played mistake free football and has improved every year. Wesley has thrown for 2,240 yards, 20 TDs and 4 INTs this season. Shawnee will advance to the Group 4 final round to take on Winslow Township. Wesley will look to build on this amazing performance against a stingy defense. Sr., QB [player_tooltip player_id="28007" first="Alex" last="Brown"] , Red Bank Catholic Mr. Brown had a memorable performance against Morris Catholic to come away with the win 58-24. Brown went 11 for 18 , 238 yards and 6 TDs. On the ground, he had 7 carries for 76 yards and 2 TDs. Brown played with a heavy heart and left it all on the field. Brown did a great job being resilient and playing with great poise. Red Bank Catholic will advance to the Non-Public B semi-final to face St. Joseph (Hamm.) Brown will carry this momentum into next game. Sr., RB Ameer Bateman , Paulsboro Mr. Bateman carried the team on his back to come away with the win over Gloucester 14-20. Bateman had 42 carries , 235 yards and one score. Bateman showed that he will do whatever it takes to win. He showed no signs of weakness as the game went on. Bateman ran with aggression making it difficult to bring him down and he can easily run threw arm tackles. Paulsboro will advance to the Group 1 final round to take on Salem for the second time this year. Paulsboro will look to lean on Bateman to dominate once again. Sr., RB Ja’Quan Howard , Cedar Creek Mr. Howard made a lot of big plays to help seal the win over No.15 Somerville 27-0. Howard had 27 carries for 228 yards and 2 TDs. Howard did a great job running with good vision and toughness. He has really good first step quickness and once he gets to the open field he is tough to bring down. Howard is a versatile athlete that can catch out the back field as well. Cedar Creek will look to utilize Howard in many different ways. Cedar Creek will remain undefeated and advance to the Group 3 final round against on Saturday against Delsea who are also undefeated. Sr., WR [player_tooltip player_id="190980" first="Trey" last="Simmons"] , Winslow Township Mr. Simmons played well against Colts Neck to come away with the win 41-14. Simmons has been a reliable target all year collecting 36 receptions for 763 yards and 8 TDs. Simmons is the type of player who runs precise routes and has natural hands. He is a deep threat option and is dangerous after the catch. Simmons has top tier speed and wins the majority of the 50/50 balls. Winslow will advance to the Group 4 final round to face Shawnee Friday night. Expect Simmons to build off this amazing performance.
