With Farmington’s first-team defense on the field so little Friday night – the first-team defense sat most of the second half and the Forest Lake defense giving up over sixty points, finding a lot of great defensive plays by first-team players was more challenging than usual. With that – there were some first-team defenders and plays that I felt stood out.
Vince Vonbank Farmington DL
Vonbank made a tackle on the edge for a short gain. His quick pressure on the quarterback forced an incompletion. He fought off a block and stuffed a run to the outside.
Jonathan Shrum Farmington DB
Shrum led the team with nine total tackles. He made a tackle stopping the Rangers’ offense short of a first down. He set up a touchdown by breaking through the center of the line to block a punt. Shrum got position on a receiver and out jumped that receiver for an interception.
Dylan Olson Farmington DB
Olson made an open-field tackle on a throw into the flat. When Forest Lake ran a wide receiver screen, Olson fought off a block and made a tackle for a short gain.

Dahl held down the middle and was a big reason the Rangers’ running game never could find much consistency. He got credit for five tackles. He made a big tackle on the inside, and then on special teams, he made a solid tackle on a kickoff return.
Payton Rindels Forest Lake LB
Rindels made a pair of big plays. He recovered a fumble and registered a quarterback sack. He also stuffed a run on the inside.

Mohr stuffed a run up the middle for a short gain. Then, he put pressure on the quarterback and picked up a sack, a safety, and two points for his team.
Peyton Christenson Forest Lake LB
Christenson stepped up and made a tackle for a short gain. Then, he stayed with the ball-carrier to make an open-field tackle on a throw into the flat.
