Games to Watch
Clare @ Kingsley – Just south of Traverse City is Kingsley hosting a great D5 matchup. Kingsley comes in 9-1 having won most of their games by way of a blowout. Kingsley is a great team, as they lost 2-0 in the 3rd round of the playoffs to Reed City last season. As for Clare, they’re 7-3 but have faced better competition. Notably, Clare lost to Marquette by only 1 point (40-39).
Players to watch – Jacob Recker, Jake Punches, Al Warner, Brett Peterson Brett Peterson 6'2" | 210 lbs | TE Glen Lake | 2022 State MI , Evan Douglass, Kyan Fessenden
Calumet @ Negaunee – A Upper Peninsula matchup that should be very competitive, both of these teams have been the best in the U.P. These teams met during week 2 and Negaunee won that one 35-21, though this one should be more competitive. Calumet had a great win against Menominee last week, and they’re on fire, plus very capable of beating this Negaunee team.
Players to watch – Dryden Nelson, Thomas Erkkila, Bode Bonovetz, Preston Toutant
Boyne City @ Standish-Sterling – Both of these teams are looking great, and both have a common opponent they beat by 34 points. Boyne City has their best record since 2018, and now is their best chance to make a deep playoff run. As for Standish-Sterling, they’ve significantly improved from their 1-8 season last year, and they’re playing the best football since 2013.
Players to watch – Bobby Hoth, Jack Neer, Mason Wilcox, Laine Thibault, Colin Rogers
Rudyard @ Newberry (8-Man) – This may be the only time we’ve ever mentioned an 8-man game, but I promise you this is going to be good. These teams met during week 5, and Newberry came away with the W 34-28. Rudyard surprisingly demolished Munising 38-14 during round 1, and the high-powered offense looks to continue against Newberry. Speaking of Newberry, they’re 8-2 and have an excellent offense, about as good at Rudyard.
Players to watch – Jace Jenerou, Connor Rintamaki
