Rochester Adams SB Drew Heppner
Heppner has great balance and field vision, often gaining extra yards with a cut or burst through a hole. Knows the offense well, and he fits a need with Adam’s Veer offense to a T. Very similar to Joey Shallow. I expect Heppner to have a great 2023 playing a key role in the Adams offense.
Rochester FB Bodie Therkildsen
If Therkildsen stays at fullback, which I hope he does, he could be a unique force over the next two seasons. You don’t see the fullback position utilized much on offense other than blocking, but Therkildsen had a ton of carries, and the fullback dive proved to be a difficult thing to stop. If he adds on a ton of muscle this offseason, I see this guy being a great blocking and goalline threat, as well as being someone who can wear a defense down.
Groves DB Zach Rogers
Blazing fast speed and high upside. Impressive highlights, and an all-around great corner for his class. Loves to play the ball and it produces many interceptions. With plenty of added competition during the offseason, Rogers could sharpen his skills to become an all-region defensive back by his senior year.
Oak Park DB A’Jailen King
Great awareness who can play man or zone, corner or safety. Above average run stopper as he’s not afraid to sprint towards a ball carrier. Already great skills and just like Rogers, he has the potential to be great as long as he spends the offseason staying in shape and staying competitive.
Seaholm SB Kyle Robbins
Robbins is everything that I wasn’t when I was a sophomore at Seaholm. Great season as a 2-way Varsity starter. Very versatile on offense as he can be great out of the backfield, as a receiver, or as a blocker. Great at doing his job in a veer offense. Overall a solid defender in the secondary with lots of tipped balls. Seaholm has lots of impressive 2024 talent, but Robbins takes the cake here. Robbins will be prepared to do some damage during his junior season after a great offseason with Veer Camp, Hillsdale, week of champions, and some good old man makers. Robbins has accomplished more this season than anybody on this list.
North Farmington QB Ryan Shelby
Shelby showed flashes of greatness this season. It was very up-and-down for this quarterback, but he’s still very young and has a ton of football ahead. Shelby made plays with his feet but rarely panicked. He also threw some absolute DIMES down the field showing off uncanny arm strength. Shelby has the potential to be an all-region quarterback if he can build on his strengths and limit mistakes.
