We had some blowouts, as well as some nail bitters, but all the games provided up with some tremendous talent. The players listed below helped put their teams in the best positions to win and looked good doing it, putting up some crazy numbers on the way to a first round victory!
QB Bert Emanuel Jr. (2022) – Ridge Point
Emanuel Jr. played a valuable role in the Ridge Point 35-7 Bi-District win over Seven Lakes. Emanuel Jr. was dealing from the pocket and showed his escape ability. He took advantage of the open field and torched the Spartan defense when they did not contain him. Emanuel Jr. showed excellent pocket awareness and had a great feel for his surroundings. He was on point with his throws, going an efficient 12 for 16, for 255 passing yards and throwing for 4 touchdowns. Emanuel Jr. added 75 rushing yards on 12 carries and a touchdown on a physical run where he ran over a defender, showing his power and determination. To simply put it, Emanuel Jr. was dominant on the night and we will be looking forward to see him ball in the next round vs. Cy-Fair.
LB Connor Been (2022) – Klein Cain
Been has been a tackling machine the entire season, and this game vs. Cypress Woods was no difference. He just has a nose for the ball, reads his keys, and goes all out to make a stop. Been is leader who leads by example on the field. His play is top notch, and his teammates feed from it. Been plays sideline to sideline, blitzes with a purpose, and a sure tackler. He finished the game with 13 total tackles, 10 solo, 2 TFLs, and 1 sack. Look for him to continue his great play heading into next round.
ATH Wyatt Young (2024) – Tompkins
Young has been on one for these last few weeks. Every time the ball touches his hands, positive things happen for the Tompkins offense. He was having a field day vs. Fort Bend Travis. Young has shown his versatility week after week, and has shown that it is no easy task to stop him from getting what he wants. He is a physical runner who also is elusive when needed, and can outrun a defense for a big gain. Young is also a reliable target for his quarterback, proving to be a mismatch in the slot and from out of the backfield as well. Young had 9 carries for 97 yards and 4 touchdowns on the night, and also added 5 receptions for 57 yards to stats for the game. Straight athlete who will make you pay if you do not stop him.
RB Ramir McCray Ramir McCray 5'10" | 195 lbs | LB Klein Oak | 2022 State TX (2022) – Klein Cain
McCray was his regular workhorse self in the Bi-District round. He proved to be a back who can wear down a defense the longer the game goes and only gets better with more touches. With an already potent offensive attack, McCray adds and strength and power dynamic that defenses struggle to stop. For the game, McCray had 169 rushing yards on 21 carries and added a touchdown to that, helping his team move on to the next round.
QB Bishop Davenport (2022) – Spring
We know what Davenport brings to the table, and he delivered once again vs. The Woodlands in the Bi-District round. The accuracy, the poise in the pocket, the ability to escape and make big plays when needed. It is all that makes him a top quarterback and a winner. He delivers when his team needs it, and is unafraid to make the big throws. Davenport showed off his arm strength once again and his ability to drop dimes to his top weapons. Davenport went 15 for 27, for 344 passing yards and 3 touchdowns. He also showed why he is a threat running, rushing for 106 yards on 17 carries. Watch out for the Spring Lions and their star studded team as they continue through the playoffs.
QB Carson Roper Carson Roper 6'3" | 190 lbs | QB Klein Cain | 2022 State TX (2022) – Klein Cain
Roper took control of the Hurricane offense vs. Cypress Woods. He dissected the defense with efficient throws and did much damage with his feet as well. Roper was quick on his reads and decisive with his runs, which led to him rushing for 123 yards on 11 carries with 3 touchdowns, including a 45 yard scamper. In the air, Roper went a very good 11 for 13, for 140 yards and a touchdown. This team just keeps impressing and will have a nice matchup with the Spring Lions for next round.
RB Rashon Estes Rashon Estes 5'6" | 165 lbs | RB Jersey Village | 2023 State TX (2023) – Jersey Village
Estes was just too much for the Westside defense to handle. He was too fast for defenders to catch up with and too quick and elusive in tight spaces. Estes was not afraid to lower the shoulder as well on his way to the endzone, making sure defenders remembered who he was. Estes shows incredible vision and is a valuable weapon for the Falcon offense and a major key to their success. Estes ran the ball 15 times for 138 yards and 3 touchdowns. He will have to bring it again next round but we know he is good for it! Estes fears no defense and will show it on the field.
