It’s not easy to go over 100 yards in any game, let alone the state championship, but that’s what each of our standouts did. Take a look at the 4 running backs who had great nights at Ford Field.
Hudson RB Nick Kopin
131 yards and 2 TD’s leading Hudson to a 14-7 victory. Kopin has been a great back all season, one of the best in Division 8. Kopin was responsible for all of Hudson’s scoring, and also had a big day on defense with a forced fumble, 2 pass breakups, and a tackle for loss.
Chelsea RB Trenton Hill
Hill had 150 yards and 1 TD on 33 carries in the insane comeback win over Unity Christian. Hill put the team on his back and helped carry Chelsea to a 55-52 state championship win after being down 45-17 late in the 3rd quarter.
Unity Christian RB Drew Chandler
182 yards and a TD on 9 carries, can’t get much better than that against the incredible competition. Chandler runs with a rare sense of purpose and determination and he truly did everything he could to help his team on Friday night. It was another excellent performance for him, but still a game he wishes his team could have back.
Detriot MLK RB Terrence Brown
113 yards and 2 touchdowns on 11 carries is straight-up elite. King was doing pretty much whatever they wanted all day, and this became obvious after Brown took it 51 yards to the house on King’s opening drive. What a season it was for the senior running back, and what a way to end his high school career.
