Looking back on the weekend, we had some incredible quarterback play from guys who clearly rose under the added pressure. From an impossible comeback win to Mr. Football himself, here are 5 quarterbacks that performed at an elite level when it mattered most.
Chelsea ’22 QB Lucas Dunn
Lucas Dunn will forever be legendary for what he accomplished on Friday night. Under the lights on High School’s biggest stage, Dunn orchestrated a comeback win against one of the most statistically dominant teams in history. He threw for 308 yards and 6 touchdowns on 69% passing (25/36). Dunn was clutch, accurate, and poised. What he and his team have accomplished is nothing short of legendary, and they made the Chelsea community incredibly proud.

Belleville ’25 QB Bryce Underwood
Underwood displayed uncanny deep ball accuracy and football IQ in the runaway victory against Rochester Adams. The freshman totaled 284 yards and 5 touchdowns with 0INTs on 57% passing. He’s got all the intangibles of a future top-recruit and the offers should begin rolling in soon.
Detroit King ’23 QB Dante Moore Dante Moore 6'2" | 210 lbs | QB Detroit King | 2023 State MI
Mr. Football himself proved to the world just why he’s earned that insane title. Moore led a complex offense to victory, throwing for 228 yards, 0TDs, and 1INT against perhaps the best secondary in the state. Other than his stats, his presence and leadership are second to none, and he’s a known workaholic who’d dedicated himself to his craft in every way shape and form. The D Zone and I interviewed Dante after the game, and here’s what he had to say about his clutch play that sealed the win.
DeWitt ’22 QB Tyler Holtz
Holtz did absolutely everything in his power to defend last year’s state title, but unfortunately came up a yard short against King. Still, the senior threw for 153 yards and 2 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions while having pressure up in his face all night long.
De La Salle ’23 QB Brady Drogosh Brady Drogosh 6'5" | 205 lbs | QB De La Salle | 2023 State MI
Up in the press booth, we all marveled at Drogosh’s performance. I overheard someone say “this is by far the best I’ve seen him throw all year, he’s on another level today”. Another level he was indeed on as he threw for 142 yards and 3 touchdowns (14/19) while rushing for 177 more yards with 1 touchdown. The defense he was facing had college talent in its secondary, as well as division 1 talent in the front 7. Regardless of his opponent, Drogosh would not be denied a state title.
