Here in the semifinal round, a field goal, extra point, or punt could be the difference between winning and losing. Here are a few of the best special teams studs remaining in the playoffs.
Grand Blanc K/P Dylan Hertzberg
Hertzberg is the best kicker left in the playoffs, and perhaps the best kicking talent in the state. The all-region kicker hit 8/9 FG’s this season, even hitting one at 45-yards out. In addition, he was 35/38 in XP’s with 33 kickoff touchbacks. His punts have lots of hang time and are booted deep. Grand Blanc has the best remaining special teams unit in the state largely thanks to Hertzberg.
Stevenson K Kyler Castle
Castle is a solid kicker that already proved to be the difference-maker in some close playoff games. He’s automatic on extra points and does not fold under the pressure of big situations.
Franklin K Griffin Nowak
Nowak is a great high school kicker who’s automatic with XP’s going 29/30 on the year with 1/1 made FG’s. He’s set up for an amazing senior season.
Mason P Calder Meyers
Field position is going to play a huge role in Mason’s game against Detroit MLK. Myers is capable of pinning them back and being the difference-maker on special teams.
Edwardsburg K Trevor Houseworth
Houseworth has quite the leg, as he’s able to boot kickoffs past the endzone. Great kicking mechanics with a high arc, with excellent power. I’m unsure if he’s accurate with deep field goals, but he easily has the leg to kick from 50+.
