Tommy Romano, DB, Notre Dame Prep ’23
Romano accumulated 7 total tackles with a TFL, and did a great job at safety for NDP. He did a solid job processing plays quickly to recognize the run and come downhill to fill alleys. He eats up ground well and flies to the ball and showed strength at the POA. He plays low and tackles with a low pad level, but shoots through his hips at the POC to explode through opponents. Very underrated player on the defensive side of the ball for NDP that had himself a solid night.
Cameron Imwalle, LB, Notre Dame Prep ’22
Imwalle had himself a solid game by racking up 7 tackles and an INT on the night. He recognized a quick out route and timed his break perfect to undercut it and snatch it out of the air for a pick. Solid in run support as well as Apollo had a tough time getting anything going on the ground. He stepped up big in the first round of playoffs and will continue to have to fill a big role on that NDP defense.
David Viloria, DE, Apollo ’22
Despite the loss, Viloria was one of the few standouts of the night for the Apollo defense. He totaled 2 tackles, 3 hurries, and a pass deflection. It seemed like he stuck his nose in quite a few plays and also seemed like he was in constant pursuit. Not a flashy or hyped up night for Viloria, but he was still able to contribute a noticeable amount.
Ty Borowski, DL, Notre Dame Prep ’23
Borowski was a key player on that NDP defense Friday night, racking up 1.5 sacks, 6 tackles, and 2 TFL’s. Borowski was constantly disruptive with his pass rush, flashing active feet with good bend to frequently force Apollo’s QB out of the pocket. He did a good job getting lateral to make plays down the LOS, and also showed the ability to quickly disengage from blocks. Overall an impressive performance from Borowski.
Daniel Delgado, DB, Apollo ’22
Delgado had 5 tackles on the night, but had one play where he really stood out and showcased some elite speed. While lined up at CB, Notre Dame threw an out on the opposite side of the field with nothing but green grass in front, and Delgado was able to hawk down a NDP breakaway receiver from the opposite sideline about 50 yards back. It was an extremely impressive display of speed and definitely caught my attention.
