What We Learned in Week 8

Here are a few things we learned from gameday performances to recruiting news. &nbsp; <strong>Freshman QB [player_tooltip player_id="154352" first="Stone" last="Saunders"] Season High Performance</strong> Cannot get enough of Saunders. In Bishop McDevitt’s big win against Milton Hershey, he went 12-for-14. On those 12 completions, he’s had a season-high in yards with 400 and touchdowns, seven.  On the season he’s completed 69% of his passes with a minimum of 100 attempts. He’s thrown for 1,681 yards and 29 touchdowns with zero interceptions. His quarterback rating is 151.6. Saunders is making his case to be the top player in the freshman class but could also be making his case to be one of the top freshmen QB’s in the nation. Below are his mid-season highlights not including Friday night’s game. <iframe src="//www.hudl.com/embed/video/3/14713215/6166e2803df58205402dba59" width="640" height="360" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen"></iframe> <strong>William Penn (York) RB [player_tooltip player_id="87079" first="Jahiem" last="White"]</strong> White is currently our 14^th overall ranked player and 2^nd ranking running back in the 2023 class. He probably had the best game of his young career Friday night. He had 22 carries for 415 yards and 7 touchdowns. On the season White has 1,507 rushing yards and 22 touchdowns. Below are highlights from the last 2 weeks. <iframe src="//www.hudl.com/embed/video/3/13442797/616c487df55fc9075855f503" width="640" height="360" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen"></iframe> <strong>Aliquippa Safety [player_tooltip player_id="66045" first="Donovan" last="Walker"]</strong> Walker continues to show us why he’s the best safety in the WPIAL in the 2023 class. In Friday’s big shutout win, he had an 80-yard interception return for a touchdown. On the season he’s got 32 total tackles, 5 interceptions, 3 pick-6’s, and 1 fumble recovery for a touchdown. Still shocked he has yet to receive any offers. Below are his highlights from Friday’s game. <strong> <iframe src="//www.hudl.com/embed/video/3/13750950/616aceb74210a90f4c8f3fda" width="640" height="360" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen"></iframe></strong> <strong>2023 Offensive Lineman receives Fourth P5 Offer</strong> <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="103987" first="Cooper" last="Young"] </strong>received his first Power 5 offer in months from West Virginia. He previously had 3 other P5 offers but his last one was back in March. Young is currently our 13^th overall ranked player and 2^nd ranked offensive lineman. There will be a shuffle in our offensive line rankings with a couple more guys coming into the mix. Young is no doubt being recruited by Power 5 schools but just doesn’t have a bunch of offers to show for it. https://twitter.com/CooperYoung44/status/1449402910635347972 <strong>2022 William Penn (York) O-Line De-Commits</strong> <strong>Joden Nelson</strong> who was a UConn commit, de-committed last week. He received an offer from UConn back in June and not even a month later, he committed. Nelson is no doubt a good player, but I felt strongly he was an FCS player. Before UConn, he had a few FCS offers. Late September he received a Towson. After his de-commitment, he received Monmouth and Duquesne. https://twitter.com/joden62/status/1448680005408591873 <iframe src="//www.hudl.com/embed/video/3/14561718/615a032e066abf0688f48ecf" width="640" height="360" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen"></iframe> <strong>2022 Stroudsburg DE De-Commits</strong> <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="27623" first="Nate" last="Voorhis"]</strong> who was another UConn commit made his decision to de-commit. Voorhis was the 3^rd de-commit for UConn and now the 2^nd from PA. He received an offer from UConn in early May and a little after a month, he committed. Voorhis was another kid I felt strongly was FCS.
