Week 8 is upon us and we’ve got big games in unfamiliar spots. Check out 4 of the best Metro Detroit games this week.
Games to Watch
(6-1) Carlson @ (5-2) Lakeland: Carlson is in a unique position being one of the teams atop the current DIII playoff standings and they’re feeling good heading into this one. Carlson is known for their lockdown defense led by FS [player_tooltip player_id="30178" first="Jaishaun" last="Williams"] and LB [player_tooltip player_id="30216" first="Cody" last="Britt"], while Lakeland is known for their offense led by Reed Jabiro. This matchup should be a very fun one to watch, and no matter who wins it will shake up the playoff picture.
(7-0) South Lyon @ (4-3) Waterford Mott: These teams are no stranger to one another, as Mott took the victory last season. It’s been tough sledding for Mott as they’ve lost 3 of their last 4 matchups by an average of just 3 points. Another way I can put it is Mott is much better than the record suggests, and they’re led by elite G CJ Aldred. As for South Lyon, they obviously have nothing to mope about being undefeated and they’ll surely be riding high into this one. What sticks out to be is the explosive offense led by WR [player_tooltip player_id="99356" first="Quinn" last="Fracassi"].
(6-1) Harper Woods @ (6-0) De La Salle: If you like star power, then this is the game for you. Harper Woods sports Michigan commit [player_tooltip player_id="30142" first="Tayshawn" last="Trent"] as well as West Virginia commit [player_tooltip player_id="30141" first="Christion" last="Stokes"]. De La Salle on the other hand is a certified elite program, this year having elite talent, as usual, led by OLB Will Beasley.
(2-5) Farmington @ (3-4) Avondale: These two teams are now at an end of season fight for a playoff spot, as Avondale is currently one of the last teams in the DIII playoffs, while Farmington needs to win this week then next week against 0-7 Ferndale to have a chance. Farmington needs solid production from RB [player_tooltip player_id="30243" first="Jacob" last="Sanders"], while Avondale is looking for another great performance by Gavin Betts.
