Hats off to the entire Notre dame Prep offensive line, as they all played lights out all night. Here’s a look at some of the top offensive players from this one sided matchup:
Andrew Vines, RB/K, Notre Dame ’22
It was definitely the Vines show on Friday night, as he racked up over 100 yards rushing with 3 TD’s. I like his frame and build at 5’11″ 185lbs, as he possesses a thick and strong lower half which helps him drive through contact for extra yards. He’s a sturdy back with solid balance and runs hard between the tackles with a good pad level. Physical at the POC, and showed the ability to break and bounce off tackles to spring himself loose into space.
Braden Wells Braden Wells 6'2" | 170 lbs | QB Notre Dame Prep | 2022 State AZ , QB, Notre Dame ’22
Wells did a great job taking care of the football and managing the game on Friday night in one half of play. He racked up 2 total TD’s on the night, 1 rushing and 1 passing. He busted loose on a 34 yard rushing TD where he was untouched, and threw about a 4 yard TD pass. He showed good control and command throughout the night, and threw dropped a dime to Gavin Smith Gavin Smith 5'10" | 190 lbs | WR Notre Dame Prep | 2022 State AZ on a fade as well. He didn’t really get a chance to unleash his arm a whole lot due to the blowout, going 4-6 for 56 yards on the night.
Gavin Smith Gavin Smith 5'10" | 190 lbs | WR Notre Dame Prep | 2022 State AZ , WR, Notre Dame ’22
Smith also had limited opportunities due to the blowout, but was still able to showcase enough within those opportunities to turn some heads. He showed good body control and tracked the ball in well on a fade down the sideline. Very good route runner as he showed the ability to set up and manipulate DB’s off the ball to generate immediate separation or give himself room to work. He’s a solid punt returner for NDP as well, as he uses his explosiveness to change direction or cutback to open field on a dime. Very good athlete all-around and should be a 2022 prospect to follow through the season.
Ben Roberts, DE/TE, Notre Dame ’23
Roberts was a standout on both sides of the ball on Friday night. His ability to block and control opponents in the run game was very impressive. It seemed like he was flattening opponents every play. He’s a willing blocker from a down TE set, and showed excellent drive and control to redirect opponents and open up big lanes for ball carriers. Strong at the POC with excellent functional strength to explode through contact and put opponents on their back.
Brady Meyer, RB, Notre Dame ’24
This young prospect flashed some solid potential on Friday night, rushing for 86 yards on 8 carries. He shows a nice burst through a lane once he sees an opening, and showed glimpses of his top end speed. He also flashed some twitch and COD on the night, and could be a sneaky 2024 prospect to know in the future as he continues to grow and develop.
