Jr., QB Jahki Coates Jahki Coates 6'1" | 230 lbs | QB Salem | 2023 State NJ , Salem High School
Mr. Coates had a great day against Penns Grove coming away with the victory 48-12. He led his team with an outstanding performance going 14-18 , 350 yards and 3 TDs. Standing at 6’1″ 205lb, Coates has the size to see over defenders and take hits. Coates also has a strong arm with plenty of velocity to get to his targets. He does a great job staying calm in the pocket to deliver a strike. Coates is ready to lead his team into the Group 2 playoffs who are one of the favorites to make a run at the state title. Salem will finish their regular season schedule against Woodstown on Thanksgiving.
Sr., QB Danny Wersching , Hightstown High School
Mr. Wersching set the school record for most touchdown passes in a single game. He led his team to a blowout win over West Windsor-Plainsboro 62-22. Wersching was the best player on the field going 11-14, 292 yards and 6TDs. Even though, Wersching is smaller than your average quarterback he showed height doesn’t mean a thing. His arm is his biggest asset. Wersching does many things well. For instance, he can extend plays and doesn’t make costly mistakes. His overall stats this season are impressive. Wersching is 56-83, 973 yards with 14 TDs and 2 INTs. Hightstown will close out their regular season schedule against Allentown this Friday. With a win this Friday Hightstown will punch their ticket into the playoffs.
Sr., WR Antonio Perillo , Metuchen High School
Mr. Perillo was unstoppable but could not come away win the win over Middlesex. Perillo had 10 catches 249 yards and 3 TDs. Perillo caught every pass that came his way. He is a natural pass catcher and does a great job running precise routes. Metuchen did not qualify for the playoffs but Perillo is ready for the next level. They will end their season against Manville on Friday. Perillo would look to end his senior season on a good note.
Jr., DB Jack Garbolino , North Brunswick High School
Mr. Garbolino had 7 tackles and 2 INTs against St. Jospeh (Met.) with a win 28-18. Garbolino does a great job recognizing pass concepts by the offense that allows him to be in position to make plays. He is also solid in run support putting his body on the line for his team. Garbolino will continue to dominate in the Group 5 playoffs.
Sr., RB Zach Palmer- Smith , Delran High School
Mr. Palmer- Smith had a great performance against West Deptford 40-0 win. He had 27 carries 373 yards and 5 TDs. Palmer-Smith currently has 1,321 and 13 TDs and will look to continue to dominate in the playoffs. Palmer-Smith is a tough back to bring down. He runs with excellent knee bend and has quick feet to make defenders miss. Palmer- Smith is one of the top running backs in South Jersey and will look to make a statement in the playoffs.
