By now, you should have an idea who are bound to make a playoff berth and many teams are still in the hunt to secure a spot.
Let’s take a look at the scores from Week 6.
Cedar Creek 7 vs (No.3) Holy Spirit 6
Cedar Creek improved to (6-0) and has only allowed 14 points this season. Their defense has been very stout against high powering offenses. Offensively, Creek managed to score on their first drive that was set up by a key play by JoJo Bermudez JoJo Bermudez 5'10" | WR Cedar Creek | 2022 State NJ (Cedar Creek). He took a screen pass for 35 yards to set up an easy score by Justin Castillo (Cedar Creek). Holy Spirit had many missed opportunities during this game that costed them the game. Spirit managed to get to the red zone but couldn’t capitalize due to a missed field goal. That gave Cedar Creek confidence to manage the clock and come out with the victory.
Pennsgrove 8 at Woodstown 42
Woodstown prevailed in dominant fashion after losing five straight games to Pennsgrove. Woodstown had a big day on the ground rushing for a total of 333 yards. Sophomore Runningback James Hill (Woodstown) ran for 149 yards and two touchdowns. Woodstown controlled the line of scrimmage from start to finish making it difficult for Pennsgrove to make plays defensively. Woodstown will look to build on this game as they improve to (4-1) overall. On the other hand, Pennsgrove fell to (3-2).
Cherokee 33 at Eastern 7
Cherokee has regained their confidence after defeating Eastern comfortably. Cherokee seems they are back where they left off. Junior Runningback Brandon Boria Brandon Boria 5'8" | 190 lbs | RB Cherokee | 2023 State NJ (Cherokee) had a great performance. He rushed 230 yards on 31 carries with four touchdowns. The offensive line did it a great job creating holes for Boria. It seems as though Cherokee’s rushing attack is their bread and butter. This victory means a lot to Cherokee who are still in the hunt for a playoff berth. Cherokee improves to (2-2) and Eastern falls to (2-3) overall.
Mainland 34 at Deptford 28
Mainland found a way to win after an overtime thriller. Deptford started off to 14-0 lead in the first quarter but couldn’t sustain the lead. Deptford’s Senior Runningback Robert Mosley (Deptford) scored twice on 44 yard run and a 73 yarder. But Mainland instantly answered in the 2nd quarter. Both teams managed to score twice before regulation but Mainland had the last say. Mainland improves to (3-3) while Deptford falls to (0-5).
Overbrook 3 vs New Egypt 0
Overbrook defeats New Egypt in a tight defensive battle. Overbrook reached the goal line three consecutive times but came away with no points. New Egypt’s stout defense has only allowed six points in three games. However, on the game winning drive New Egypt failed to connect on the game winning touchdown giving Overbrook another opportunity with the football. Senior Kicker Zach Megara (Overbrook) was the top performer of this game tacking on the only points in this match up. Overbrook improves to (6-0) for the first time since 1998. New Egypt is now (3-1) who are off to their best start in five years.
